Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Did your saddle bag ever destroyed your Bib?

my $5 saddle bag just destroyed my brand new, one week old, Sugoi RSE
Did it ever happened to you? where do you guys carry your cell phone, home keys and ID?
My saddle bag have a velcro that goes around the seat post, and that ended up rubbing on my bib
Anything safe to put those small items, besides the back of of the jersey?

This is what I use.

https://cgi.ebay.com/SCICON-VORTEX-48...item336845ba31

It is secure, does not attach to the seatpost (no danger of damaging the seatpost's paint) and with additional clips I can easily move the bag from one bike to the next.

Good luck.

I've never used a saddle bag with velcro. I attach a KLICKfix on my seat bracket. Looks like this and easy to install.

No. My seatbag narrows at the tip that attaches to the seatpost.

My saddle bag is below my saddle, and does not graze against my bib shorts ever. The only damage done to the bib is chamois deterioration from wear.
I put my cell, ipod, and snack(s) in my jersey. Maybe it's time for you to use a wide mouth water bottle.

Yes, was using a fizik (non clip style) that rubbed, now I have a Lezyne micro caddy and it solved the issue. You can Google for images for what it looks like on the bike, but very small and no way it comes close to my legs on my Fizik saddle.

nice tips. I will buy one of those clip bags. mine the velcro goes around and I think one side was a little misplaced exposing the "hard" part of the velcro. That ended up doing a nasty damage to both legs of my bibs.
By the way, that's the f'ing must comfortable bib that I ever wore. My PI have never touched my butt after the Sugoi.. Once you go RS's, you never go back. lol

Yes...right after buying my first pair of bibs. It didn't tear through but it roughed up the lycra pretty good on my right leg. For a while, I used duct tape to cover the rough edge of the velco...but I switch my saddle back between me two bikes so that didn't work out. Now, I either don't attached the strap around the seatpost or I mount the bag backwards and the offending strap faces aft.

I use Soul Run's jersey pocket for my phone, tire levers, cash and patches (only for dire emergencies). I have friends that use the bike tool roll. Pretty awesome with what it can hold, it looks cool and it won't mess your stuff up. I'm a total shill, but only because I love their stuff.

I've never had my saddle bag mess up any clothes. Mine does narrow near the stem though.

I keep all my stuff in a small zippered nylon bag. It's an old hiking first aid kit bag. Fits an Epi-Pen, tube, levers, patch kit, and CO2 cartridge. That goes in my center jersey pocket.

And yes, I started using this method after destroying a pair of shorts.

I had a similar problem with a saddle bag with a velcro strap around the seat post rubbing my inner thigh, fraying my bibs. I picked up a Arundel seat bag and solved the problem: https://www.arundelbike.com/dual.html?p=1.1.2.1

If you aren't using the pockets on your jersey, what's the point of having the jersey?

I had the same problem with the velcro fasteners on bags, on one i managed to move the velcro strap so that it went more upwards, over the top of the seatpost and on another i removed the plastic stiffening from inside the bag which made the bag narrower near the seat.

Love them rules tho.

I had the same problem. Heck, I think I even posted a thread about it.

I got the lezyne micro caddy.

Problem solved.

PS the scicon bags look good too but a bit pricier than lezyne

This. Except the currency.

The small Lyzene bags are great as well.

For pockets, I use the zippered bags Blackberry used to give away with the power adapters.

Long ago they invented these cool things called cycling jerseys, you can find them all over the place, even Dicks. But your local LBS has them too. Pockets on the back.

ID/Cell/monies in left. I use an aloksak, but a plain ziploc baggie will do.

Tools in center. I use a water proof tent stake bag with a quick slide pull closure. I keep a tube, preglued patch kit, spoke wrenches, multitool, emergency ration/tireboot GU, Co2 and chuck, and travel sunscreen tube in it.

Food in right.

You can be rid of the giant dingleberry wagging around under your ass cheeks.

Or so can have a ton of crap wagging around your waist.

I use the absolute smallest bag I can find. It is Giant by no means.
