Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Why do people leave their bicycles locked up outside overnight? I'm happy to throw mine over my shoulder and walk it up four flights of stairs to keep it inside of my apartment. If I had a roommate I'd even keep it in my bedroom.

It's true, leaving it outside isn't advisable, not least of all in this town. But judging from your reply, you sound like a single young fella. Not everyone is you/has your life, nor is everyone's bicycle of choice a 20lb fixed gear. These things impact such decision-making.

When I was an undergrad student at Columbia University, I had a bicycle stolen right out of my dorm room while I was in class. I then attended grad school at MIT, where I had another bike stolen out of a campus bike rack where I had locked it up. Neither bike was anything special, but it seems that dopers will steal just about anything. I've not had a bicycle stolen since.

I'm currently searching for an 03 matrix xrs to replace my honda fit for my daily driver. Can't believe toyota put their 2zz-ge and a 6 spd manual in a grocery getter but I love them for it. Kinda hard to find though.

You can fit sooooo many bikes in them.

Honda Elements are the supreme bike car, you can fit bikes in there without even taking a wheel off, all the seats fold down into a bed and no carpet so you can hose it out.

Just like the matrix! Those elements are tanks though. They hold their value so well too. Was considering one when I got my fit, but I went for the mpgs.
