Nice bike! IGH? You best be keeping the Superbe Pro bits on that!

A totally non-stock one that was on my upper edge of sizing went through my hands. Non original fork but I loved the black chromed stays.

Addicted is just a Dr.-Phil-esque epithet (like dysfunctional or codependent or perverted) used by bitter people who can't stand to see someone living fully, because it reminds them that they settled for half-measures.

It's true. My psyche yearns to free itself from the weltschmerz stemming from my lack of a Peloton.

Just wondering,....where does the Peloton sit in the Schwinn 80's model heirarchy? Is it between the Circuit and the Paramount?
Are there other 80's Schwinn models in between?

BF member Rich Pinder has an '85 for sale, or did. It'll quickly cure what's ailing ya.

The Circuit replaced the Peloton at the top of the production line in 1987.

The 85 is nice for sure, but I think I'm holding out for the '86. Plus I blew my bike budget on an RB-1 frame.

Oh, and re: IGH, whatever keeps you on the bike is great!

The following was shamelessly taken from the Schwinn scans, I learned about from the C&V division of BF:

1984- Peloton, Super Sport, Tempo, Voyageur SP, Voyageur, Le Tour Luxe
1985- Same as above.
1986- Peloton, Super Sport, Tempo, Madison, Prelude, Le Tour
1987- Circuit, Super Sport, Tempo, Prelude, Le Tour, Traveler, World Sport, World, Madison, Voyageur
1988- Avion (PDG) Circuit, Tempo, Premis, Prelude, Le Tour, Traveler, World Sport, Voyageur
1989- AL 974, AL 754, AL 564, Circuit, Tempo, Prelude, Le Tour, Traveler, World Sport, Voyageur

I think, '86 was the final year Schwinn contracted with Panasonic. Manufacturing was then all being done in Greenville MS, but I could be lying.

'86 Peloton, National/Panasonic, as well as Voyageur SP and Voyageur?
'87 Circuit, Schwinn @ Greenville

rat fink defiantly has his finger on the pulse of modern IGH. That's impressive technology by Shimano.
I'll stick with the friction drive train but GI's are going to change, maybe.

Thanks C&V'ers for teaching all the fun facts with respect to steel bikes!

Some of these pictures are slightly outdated. I should be able to get some more in the coming weeks.

Before I switched the fork:

Oh man. Those white and black 86' Pelotons are my all time favorite schwinns - it's definitely on my list. I really like the builds of the Pelotons posted here as well...

Ironically, there are very few black and/or white bikes that I'm drawn to, but these just work in all the right ways.

That's not a bad look at all, Rat. How's she ride?
Any interest in selling your original fork? I've got a frame with no fork which I'm passing forward to a fellow forum member, and will pay for the fork.
Also, did you simply install a threadless fork with a modern headset on her? How did you do it? Any closeup shots of the headset?

Im kind of wondering the same thing. I may also be looking for a fork. By the way calamarichris, the pictures you have posted of your Pelotons is what made me decide to get a white one as wel las the 85 I already have. It will pair up nicely with an 86 Super Sport I have as well.
