Tires for Trek 7000 26"
I picked up a Trek 7000 today and I'm going thought it. It seems to be from 1995 and is generally in good shape. It has 26x1.5 tires on it now. I would like to go a little narrower, but see that 26x1.25 and 26x1 tires are scarce.
Any recommendations?

Assuming you want to go narrower for street use, I'd recommend using modern fat tires such as from Compass Rene Herse and Maxxis. They are just as fast, plusher, and maintain the intended bb height. Many people have successfully used the DTHs on mud, gravel, dirt, and street with no problems.
If you still want a narrow 26" tire, take a look a the Continental Gatorskin. Its the real deal; literally a 26" road bike tire. Compass also make a 1.25" 26" tire.
Here is a comparison with my friend's 26" Gatorskin and my 2.1" DTHs. Long MTB cranks+ low BB = more pedal strikes. YMMV
