Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

it's interesting to see how different companies do the drop flare.

some take the whole curve of the drop starting from the top and flare the whole thing out X degrees. while others only flare the bottom flats of the drops starting from toward the bottom of the drop curve.

i personally care for neither, but, that's just me.

this has been bugging me for a while: how many of us—tandem owners not included—have a single bicycle that has more than one handlebar, and hence, handlebars? is it not a handlebar? when you put a handlebar on your bike, you attach one single item to your bike, not two, so why would you call it a "set of handlebars?" why is this language so difficult for us collectively?

likewise, I cringe every time someone says something about the "forks" on their bike. it's a single damn fork!

I put on my pants, yet its one single piece of clothing. There are 2 of something on something, so its plural.
...i dont say 'forks' though as I consider that to be one unit even though 2 of something.

Ill be sure to put on my gloves and sunglass before I ride today.

pants is still a weird one, but a lot of people use the singular form. we need more fo that right now more than anything!
sunglasses: if you have only one, you're probably a pirate. two eyes, two glasses. it's not really much of a pair, is it?

a handlebar is one thing. if "handlebars" is singular, what is a "handlebar"? that only makes sense for someone who only has one hand. handlebars are what you put on a tandem or more than one bike.

If you're willing to spend for carbon, I recommend Shimano Pro Discover. It has 20 degrees of drop flare, but perhaps because there is little/no flare out it feels like a more comfortable road bar to me. It has a 5 degree sweep (like the Ritchey) which is great, but rounder in the middle and more ergo/flat at the curve leadings to the hoods. And very absorbent of vibration.

I use this gravel bar on my (road) touring bike.
I use a similar but carbon and unflared FSA road bar on my gravel bike. I would get this in carbon for that bike if it were available.
I spec’d those FSA bars on my Lynskey build but they ran out so they upgraded me to the FSA A-Wing which has aero tops and recessed areas for the cables. Minimal flare only 15 d. https://www.fsaproshop.com/products/...-agx-handlebar

I’ve got the Carbon Whisky 12f on mine. By far my favorite of the drop bars I’ve owned.

Pretty good list of gravel bars with terminology definitions (drop, reach, etc.), model specs and links. Had no idea there were so many!
