Goal: 500 Miles
10/1 - 63 miles
10/2 - 77
The cold and windy weather this week has me trying to figure out the proper riding clothes. Yesterday I was riding in 20 mph winds with gusts up to 35 mph and temps varied from low 40's to 50 degrees F. I was freezing my fingers. Today's ride had reasonable winds and temps around 60. I just wore a long sleeve jersey and felt a bit cold but not too bad.
MTD: 140 miles

October Goal: 400 Miles
10/01/20 15.32
10/02/20 15.23
10/03/20 30.14
MTD: 60.69
Decided to hit the open road today and challenge myself since I had been feeling good these past two days. I have to admit it felt good out there, my breathing was not an issue nor was my stamina, my body does feel sore though, but no pain whatsoever. Feel so great!!!!

10/2 - 50.5 miles
10/3 - 55.5 (revised - test-driving new wheels)
MTD: 106.0
Goal: 700 miles
Mapped a route in MapMyRide, then fed it to my phone and tried to follow it, missed a turn at one point, so I go a bonus mile and a half in. New wheels are supposed to arrive today, so I might just have to get a few more miles in with some test rides if all goes as planned. Where's that FedEx truck?
Update: new wheels received, mounted, test-driven, all good. Looking forward to the next long ride. Probably won't be tomorrow.

Goal for Oct: 500 miles
9/01 - 22 miles
9/02 - 42
9/03 - 58
MTD 122 miles
Very grey, blustery fall day - kind of eerie on the Hawthorne Trail and not a lot whole lot of folks out braving the wind.

Took the new wheels for an extended ride down the Coast to San Clemente this morning, they performed flawlessly. I kept catching myself looking down at the shiny new spokes spinning around so fast. Got there 4 hours before the train home was due so I rode to the next stop in San Juan Capistrano, tried some different bike paths I didn’t know existed, had lunch, and it’s still another hour 'til the train gets here. Considered riding the rest of the way home very briefly, then recalled the hills of Laguna Beach were no fun the first time, and would likely be less so on a return trip. Sitting in the train station in the shade isn’t bad at all.

As such, my first ride of the month occurred on Sunday. Finally got my dad out on a real ride for the first time in a long time. We did a little 5-mile putt earlier this year, and I think last year he did a 10-miler. But the last time he rode anything over that was probably 1995. So, way to go, dad!

After days of hi temps in the 50's and 60, today ride started at 55 degrees and after a few hours it was in the mid 80's. I had part of the gear right, instead of tights, I used leg warmers and shorts, but for the top I used a long sleeve jersey and full finger gloves (bad idea). at least I could cool off my legs but the top was over heating at the end of the ride. I did know it was going to get warm but I wanted to leave before the winds got too strong. Oh well, I can make a better choice tomorrow.
