Does anybody know where I could get a Bob trailer skewer (145mm) for my tandem? Even the manufacturer does not have them anymore.

Ebay lists a lot of the standard-length BOB skewers.

Since QR skewers are pretty standardized designs, I bet you could use the inner axle and cam housing end from any 145mm skewer and use the BOB QR lever and cam housing and the BOB nut end. This is what I'd do if I couldn't source a tandem-length NOS BOB skewer from the interwebs.

Don't take this wrong way but I'm genuinely curious -- the BOB website still lists the tandem 145mm skewer, but you can't order directly from BOB, you have to order from one of their retailers.

Who specifically is telling you they are no longer manufactured? Is it the LBS? Might be worth checking with some other retailers. I've noticed that with LBS availability often depends on which supplier they go through.

Again, you might already have done this, but have you contacted BOB directly to ask what they suggest?

Yep, we got the BOB skewer for our tandem from BikeShopHub.com, which campfirecycling evolved from. We needed the skewer not to pull a trailer, but because the skewer was recommended as being strong enough to keep my stoker and I from moving the hub out of position in the dropouts on strong starts from a standstill. As if we are a strong team! When I crank down the quick release, the hub stays put.
