Second photo must be about 1-2 laps to go. That was one of the only times I was next to Bryan, the overall leader. My face also reflects some strain, and the field is a bit tight.
Video - I hope to find some time to edit it on my week off. Want to do the prior race too.

That's awesome bd - it even looks like you deserved the win, just based on the suffering in the photo. How much did you win by?
Tour of Walla Walla Cat 4 Crit - wasn't that much suffering, just a lot of cornering (6 per lap) and pretty snappy at 26.1 mph average speed. 5th place out of 90 or so. It was mostly about handling, which is why I love crits.

A tire's width! The guy in the black and white jersey nearly pipped me at the line, mostly due to my being in the totally wrong gear (53x13 or 14) for an uphill sprint.

bd - good job holding him off - looked like the guy in black and white made up a lot of ground if the hill picture and the bike throw picture are both from near the end. You can barely make him out quite a few back on the hill photo (on your left behind some guy in bright red).

You know, I've always hated crits - but I had heaps of fun at this one.... my best race/result and most fun I've ever had at one of these hateful things. Great shot of you and Big Poppa in 3rd wheel

Where's you get the orange glasses? I need some lime green ones to match my kit and the only ones I found are too neon.
Cheers

Tour of Hermann Omnium Race.
My first cat4 race...took 6th place overall, thanks to a second place TT. The Crit and Road race were a hilly mess...not my cup of tea! Suffering pics below:
TT Finish.
YES....I am too fat for this sport!
Finished 14th on the Crit.

I grew up in Burlington, used to hit up that climb mid-ride all the time. It's a brute!
*edit NVM just saw your post in the race report thread. Looks exactly like Philo though

Just so you know, Mark Abramson vowed that UVM would not get to host a race for years after the 2008 running of the Mt. Philo circuit. I don't know if/how that is being enforced, but he was Not Amused.

Huh that's dumb. We used to do repeats up the thing, it's not THAT bad.
Ok, it's pretty terrible. But what a cool race finish! Did he just think it was too difficult?

As for the finishing climb, nothing wrong with that. It's a lot like a local climb that I rode a lot in Western Massachusetts, Mt. Sugarloaf. They're both glacial drumlins, and they're short, steep VO2 Max power climbs (just over six minutes to the summit of Sugarloaf, I think). If you still have legs. If you've been worn down by several miles of racing, they're anaerobic, lactic-acid inducing nightmare climbs.

ah yeah that makes sense. I know the UVM guys all too well and despite the fact that they are all stellar individuals in their own right, I can imagine how they might organize a race.
I wasn't aware of dirt and sketchy bridges. There is a nice 8 mile road loop you can do from the climb, I wonder why they just didn't use that. Well actually I don't really wonder (again, those guys are kind of predictable)...
