45 miles today with a friend, I had my rear bags on and he still couldn't keep up on his Felt! Weekend Warriors have nothing on us everyday commuters!

I beat the rain drops and got in 28 hilly miles between 7:30 and 9:30am. The Cuyahoga National park has a dozen or so great climbs. Three of the toughest are Ira Rd, Oak Hill Rd, and Hines Hill Rd. I knocked them off as a series for about 1700 ft of climbing during the last 15 miles of my ride.

So far I've done the inward half of my 25mi round trip commute. I caught the ealrier train. Glad I did because it's getting warm out there. I feel sorry for the runners in today's Boston Marathon. My run home may need both water bottles.

Not the "T" proper, but a commuter train. It actually works very well.
The MBTA website (www.MBTA.com) explains their policy. Bikes are allowed on any train except designated rush-hour runs. I ride from rt128 station to Attleboro in the morning, definitely against traffic and the train cars are nearly empty. Same thing on the return.
The end of each car has a large area for wheelchairs, with fold-down seats too, so bikes are no problem. Sometimes there are several bikes, but space for one more can always be found. (MTBs with a humongously wide flat handlebar can be a real obstruction, but since I ride a road bike I can be a bike snob about it.
) Conductors have disgression to disallow a bike for space reasons but if you're not going with rush hour there isn't much reason for them to do so. Folding bikes are exempt from all the restrictions, but on a really crowded train that might still be a problem.
My biggest problem is having to make the train schedule. If I miss a morning train I'll miss a meeting at work. If I miss a train in the afternoon the next one doesn't come for three hours!
I'll be spending the evening wandering around Attleboro with nothing to do.

Today was my first ride since getting back from Illinois, yesterday. Did 15 miles with some pretty strong winds. I have a doctor appointment this afternoon or I would still be on the bike getting my no-ride-for-a-week withdrawals taken care of. Nearest LBS from where I was staying is over 30 miles away in Dubuque, IA, so I couldn't even go someplace and look at a bike.

Set out on our tandem yesterday to do a 45 mile ride using a <history> track from our Garmin Edge 705. At about 16 miles, I took a wrong turn and the 705 started to recalculate, then told us to make aU-turn, which I knew was wrong, but later realized it was trying to take us home by a direct route. I tried to restart the process of using the <history>track to no avail. It couldn't find it even though it was listed in the<history> files.The air turned blue around us!! We were lost! Eventually we found our way home, but only did 25 miles and it wasn't so bad after all.

My house just past Providence to the Boston town line on rt 138 is only 52 miles. Your house might be 25-30?

23 miles, kinda cloudy, chilly wind but still enough peeks of sunshine to do the ride, mostly side streets and MUP and a stop off at the LBS!

Ha! I wish. When I drive it, Waltham to Albion Rd (rt123 x rt116) in Lincoln, it is a bit over 50 miles. By car it takes an hour, more or less. By car/train/bike it takes about 2hrs20min. After the parking and train ticket it doesn't save any money but it means I drive 60 miles less per day and I get two good bike rides.

14.4 miles, 975' of climbing. My new secret training is an out and back up a local hill. When I have time I'll ride for an hour and turn around (40 min. today). The climb normally takes 90 minutes, so if I can work up to almost getting to the top by the end of the year that would be pretty special. (I've got a lot of headroom for improvement, climbing wise)

Did my 23 miles today. On one section where they are working on the underground utility lines I encountered a road closed sign, turned around, went to the main road, road to the next street over and continued on my route.

May not cost any less money, but you get the exercise benefit from the riding and the train also reduces the stress from driving.

My sweetie and I watched Breaking Away a few days ago, specifically to watch the Masi. I had forgotten what color it was, red with yellow cable housing. If I'd remembered all that I might have treated this one, recently completed, a little different.
