Did a 54 mile "coast to coast". From the south shore of Long Island to the north shore and back.
Felt good, especially since I had dental surgery on Friday and needed to forget the pain for a few hours.

31 miles with Ellie, Bob & P.J., Very relaxed and fun. A strong 15 mph headwind for the first half of the ride held the pace down. A few 25 to 30 mph sprints made the ride home a little faster ;-).

Well I "tried" to go and ride the Garden of the Gods today but I had had a "in and out" puncture and it "spewed" sealant all over my bike! Luckly I wasn't far from home yet so as it sealed up I headed back, then it did it again, sealed back up so I walked home. Man the sealant went everywhere so I had to give the bike a bath! Found a decent size hole in the tube, NOTHING in the tire I don't think much of the, FPS, (flat protection system), in these Serfas Seca tires, I've had several flats this season with them and only ONE, with my Vittoria Randoureer tires. I'll be getting some more Vittoria's VERY SOON!

8 tandem miles with my stoker this morning.
1 tandem mile by myself this afternoon after changing out the idlers/chain management bits - to make sure things work correctly.
I'm sure the folks in my subdivision get a hoot out the man riding the tandem all by hisself.......

Don't mince words
We went out to do the shop ride this morning, but c_gallagh was called into work, so I rode with the group. Fun! They didn't do the hill as they said they would, and riding with the group would've meant more mile for me than I was willing to do.
Still, good fun, and happy to reconnect with my friends, with whom I haven't ridden in 3 weeks.

I decided to push the pace this evening and did 18 miles on the local MUP at Full Tilt Boogie! Legs felt good and it felt like I was able to keep the heart rate up pretty much the whole ride.
One moment of drama was when I approached a gathering and a young girl (8-10yr. old) decided she wanted to be on the other side of the path right as I was nearing her. I had to jump on the binders hard and thankfully she made it across before I got to her. I had announced my presence about 40 yards out but she and an adult were just oblivious to my approach.

I always go 3-5 mph around kids, with or without parents around. The other day I had a girl about 8-9 on a bike - I had announced, there was a family with a trailer and a couple of kids, the girl being on the bike.
Well, after my announcement I guess she thought she should get out of my way - by pulling out directly in front of me.. I was prepared, went to the extreme side of the trail, and there was no problem - only because I was going about 3 mph, and was ready.

Denver,
Well she started out about 10 yards off the side of the path and I first thought she was going to be a non-factor since she was not headed in the direction of the path after I announced my presence. I had dropped my speed quite a bit from about my 18mph pace at that point but I can't say how fast I was going. The next thing I know she starts running toward the path looking directly away from me. At that point I started yelling and she turned and saw me and doubled her speed. I don't think she could have timed her approach to the path any worse for me if she had tried. She also ran right past an adult who I considered much more of a question since he was standing closer to the path and ignoring me.

41 miles this morning + 2 cool down miles. Windy today with similar head and crosswinds as yesterday but not quite as bad--still slowed me down a bit.

After being rained out, yesterday, I managed to get in one of my daily 30 mile rides in this morning. Cool temps but very high humidity.

Rode 30 miles with friends on Saturday, nice and easy with a coffee break in the middle. Rode 101 miles (organized century ride) on Sunday with an 18 MPH average in the rolling hills of southern Wisconsin. Fun times.

Went on a Sky Ride local around East Manchester, some off road with a few testing slopes and a scenic river ride finishing with a long stretch down a canal towpath.
The ride was 16 miles but with a 10 mile ride each way to the venue for me it was about 36 miles or so.
Coming to the end of the ride a small group of us broke away and ended up going at a very fast pace over small bridges along the towpath probably about 17 mph plus and ended up back at the Cycle Centre about 20 mins ahead of the main ride.
Thought we would be in for a stern telling off but the leaders never mentioned it when they got back.
Not something to make a habit of though

No ride today and not all this week - I'm imprisoned at a golf resort in Virginia for a business meeting (even if there were time for it, I don't play golf - why is the meeting here?). I looked over the exercise room and it's full of big machines, but the stationary cycles are the awful clunky kind - not even close to spin bikes. Maybe I should just give my aching joints a rest and resume on Saturday....

17 miles, got new "shot" of true goo in the rear tire at a LBS and took a short utility run for a couple of items. For some reason, just didn't have the "want" to ride much today.

42 miles on a bike. Then, 12 miles with the dog in the trike. A good day to ride in a group after loosing 35 lbs. I let everyone get ahead of me at the bottom of hills. When someone goes off the front alone, I catch them and pass them going up a hill. And keep the pace up for a while. I'm having too much fun being a jerk !!

First time back on my swanky custom Strong since I'd crashed at the end of June & had to send it to Carl to be repaired. He had to completely replace the downtube, then repaint the whole frame.
Did a 17 mile solo ride just to give it a shakedown and see if I put it back together correctly (with some help from my local mechanic, since I'd already pretty much determined that I did not put it back together correctly!)
Reminded me again what an awesome bike this is. After spending the last ~10 weeks riding my 2006 Cannondale Synapse Carbon 2, coming back to this custom-designed & -fit bike was like Christmas in September. Fabulous freakin' bike, I'm so happy to have it back!

A delicious 57 miles on a bluebird day of which a good part was along the bays and beaches of Buzzards Bay in Massachusetts and the Sakonett River of Rhode Island. I just love the seaside which is the reason I'm not living in the mountains of Colorado. Weather is getting cool with trees beginning to drop leaves. I wore arm and leg warmers for the first few hours of the ride. I finishes up tired but well satisfied with the day and my share of it.
