There was another post I read recently suggesting another sub-forum that I thought wasn't a half bad idea and yet I've already forgot what it was. People raised hell over the brifter or 7, 8, 9 speed or whatever you want to call it sub-forum. Folks just don't see a frame material sub being necessary. The few unique to CF questions are probably already asked in the other forums.

If you search Kestrel 4000 on this forum, you'll see that there are numerous posts in the Classic and Vintage forum including the 1987 Road Test/Bike Review : Road Test/Bike Review (1987) KESTREL 4000
Although the C&V crowd certainly have their preferences, I would not expect to be flamed for posting there.

Thanks
Interesting that, in a thread you started that asks "Why not a carbon fiber forum?", you mention the Early Brifters forum or whatever it's called. From what I gathered (possibly wrongly) when the Brifters forum showed up out of nowhere a few years ago, some regulars had complained that late-C&V brifter bikes were polluting the C&V forum. Suddenly, a moderator post titled "We Have A Present For You!" appeared, and there it was.

It was arguably a reasonable thing to do, but it seemed odd that approval of the idea was so swift and involved no discussion in the open forums. (It's also one of the least-trafficked forums here, by the way; in fact, the overwhelming majority of the threads in it have been moved there from the C&V forum by the moderators, I believe.)

Contrast that with the Hybrids forum. If you find yourself with time on your hands, look at the last entry on the last page of that forum. That thread documents the amazing amount of resistance the idea of a hybrid forum met with. As you will see if you read that thread, the moderators treated the idea as if it were a request for access to nuclear launch codes, while the majority of Bike Forums members who weighed in treated it with generalized impassioned contempt.

By the way---I'm curious why you mentioned steel bikes being the de facto topic of C&V and asserted that carbon bikes therefore deserve their own forum but neglected to argue the same for aluminum bikes, which have substantially outsold both steel and carbon bikes for almost three decades.

Jokes aside, we don't have forums specific to other frame materials like steel or aluminum or titanium, etc. If you want to discuss riding them, most of the people in Road Cycling are doing that. If you have a question about CF properties, maybe Framebuilders but I don't think we have a lot of "industry" people here. Wrenching on CF bikes would go in Bike Mechanics. Idle chatter about early CF bikes would probably go into C&V or the Early Brifter Bikes section.

Overly-specific subforums tend to have an initial flurry of activity, then peter out. You wouldn't want that, right?

You will find in your USERCP (control panel) there is a very handy feature called Ignore List. Guaranteed you will run into the same people over and over who are negative and degrading, so populate that list and life will be much better. I must have a dozen of the chronic offenders on it and am much happier for it.

Maybe we need a sub-forum just for the grumps and lock them out of everything else!

I scrolled through OP's thread in Early Brifter. That seems to be an OK home for it, though it may be extensive enough to qualify for the Bloggers section. Good to see this one has been moved to the proper section.

I'd moderate a forum for hi-tensile bike boom bikes.

Just kidding. I've moderated forums elsewhere and it's a pain in the tuchas at times. I can understand when the mods here finally close a thread after 8 pages of arguing over chain lube.

I think the only solution is to have a sub-forum for each thread.

We want to be fair, right?

Chain lube is a religion and it can only be discussed in Religion & Politics.

Can we have a Moral Fiber sub-forum. Can we merge it with the coronavirus sub-forum and re-activate it?

I fail to see why frame material matters. I imagine that most of us active in the road bike sub-forum probably ride CF bikes. Maybe I'm wrong, but CF is just another material that bikes can be made out of and I don't see where there are enough unique things to discuss about them.

There'll always be those that claim steal is real. I've even seen some threads where some didn't want to ride anything but aluminum bikes. Segregation will just lead to continuing ignorance and myths. Lets face it, we all need to learn how to get along with each other, no matter what our bikes are made of.
