Trek 630 1986 Rear Derailleur Issue please help

This is my best friends rear end on his Trek 630. Neither of us are bike mechanics so we do no know or understand the ramifications of this issue. Looking for some help or guidence on what to do next.

I'm not sure I see an issue, unless the derailleur hanger is bent (it's not clear from that photo.)

Ah, I think I see a loose Heilicomatic lockring! That can be fixed, but you'll probably need a replacement ring, which you should be able to find on eBay.

Wow, ridiculous price! I'd check the one that fell off first, if the threads aren't damaged and it's not otherwise mangled, it should thread right back on to the hub. Ideally, you should use the correct Maillard tool - your local bike shop should be able to do it.

This one comes with the lockring and the tool.

Thanks to Hodgykins for posting this for me while I was on the road with no interweb access.... and sorry for not responding back.

This story did have a happy ending - Chris you were spot on. I took the bike to my LBS and my good friend Adam grabbed the correct tool and tightened it back down. I was a bit confused at how it came loose, but after a few rides it seems fine.
