Tesch 101 in the garage!
WOW That was quick! Popped up here on San Diego CL and how I got to it 1st is still a mystery! But here it is...GREAT CONDITION-rideable now. Tires hold air. Been in storage for a while. Anyway, a little help ID the Campy grouppo: I'm calling it Chorus?
The rear/front/shifters are Shimano 600 and those are going to be history soon-Just want to make sure I hunt down the correct parts...Man this bike is beautiful

Very Nice. you don't see too many of those, who built them or it? this is not a off the shelf Japanese frame right? I mean John was too busy writing music few people listened to.
the brake calipers and crank make me think this is original '89ish Athena. the shifters and derailleurs are 600? if it shifts good i would leave it alone unless you want friction. finding the correct Synchro insert, matching chaina nd FW could be a PIA.
I love thos Harvey Wallhangers too. what is the tubing? rims? tires?

One of the best brass brazers ever - though he didn't build all the 101's personally, AFAIK (he definitely had help with the S-22's). They have a reputation for being very steep and twitchy - definitely criterium geometry (or, as they're often labeled: track geometry on the road.)

I have a coworker that has one.
I rode the bicycle in June, and it certainly is a bicycle you want to pay attention on, especially on fast descents.
I'd take one in a second if the right one popped up though, as they are very nicely built.
...and a lot of fun.

I picked up a NOS frame earlier this year, in hopes of getting it built up once I find (and can afford) the parts. It's the second one I've owned. For whatever that's worth.

It is definitly 1st gen Athena. The crank bolt cover caps are a giveaway, CdA and Chorus cranks from that timeframe utilized self-extractor crank bolts.

So somehow this bike has now made its way to me. I'd been looking for a Tesch and this one came up on Facebook Marketplace in New Jersey. Today it is exactly as it was in the photos from nine years ago. The OP last posted in 2014. Now I'll take up the effort to get it on the road. The tubulars and brake cable housing is now shot, but other than that it seems ready to roll. I did switch out the saddle for the photo.

Teschs are the bee's knees. Mine rode beautifully, wasn't so twitchy I'd do a 180 if I sneezed, and it never pounded the heck outta me. It wasn't in any sense laid-back, but it wasn't at all squirrely. I still wanted it to fit fatter tires than it could, so I sold it. But I missed it enough that when my buyer listed it on ebay recently I thought about buying it back, but I'm wanting to be n-1 for a while longer, and if i make an exception it's going to be for something that fits fatter rubber and/or is somehow more special.
But if you're happy with 25-26mm supple tires, don't let the 101's rep scare you away. It is a very nice-handling machine. I'm sure Alex will have some feedback for us soon.
