Bunch of tweaks and upgrades to my SSFG bikes, fueled by sales.
1) Soma Rush - Sugino Zen 44T silver chainring and EAI Superstar 16T cog. I also swapped out the worn chain with a new SRAM PC-7X from my stock. It's unbelievably smooth and quiet.
2) Leader 721tr - KMC gold K710SL chain.
3) VISP - Leader i803 carbon/aluminum fork. This knocked nearly half a pound off the bike and tightened up the geometry.
4) Motobecane Messenger - Tektro RL720 left black cross lever. I had been using a flipped right lever, which was uncomfortable due to the reversed lever shape.

Nice bikes. It would be so hard to figure out which one to ride.
I did the same thing with my Pista...I upgraded to a Zen ring, got a new chain (and some new All City cog), and the bike is seriously whisper quiet. I've never ridden such a silent bike.
I rode a friend's mountain bike the other day and he has some type of rear hub that is REALLY noisy....like a swarm of angry bees are chasing behind your ear. After my current bike, I'll probably find myself annoyed even at the slightest sounds/creaks on future bikes.

Thanks. They all serve different purposes. The Soma Rush is the ultimate distance road bike, 20 to 60 mile rides. The Leader is an urban bike with SPD pedals for a lot of walking mixed in with riding. The VISP is now a dedicated track riding bike. The Motobecane is a practical shopping and all weather, day or night riding bike.

Quite differently. They feel way bigger going over bumps, better cush. They enter leans differently, much less nimble, but of course more stable. Once leaned over they inspire more confidence simply because there is so much more rubber on the deck. And because of the weight difference, the Kojaks feel much zippier off the line.

I have had both Hope Pro II's and Chris King currently, and I prefer Hope. I got a good deal on the SS Stan's Arch laced to the King hubs so I won't complain. Engagement is similar, but the sound goes to the Hope's. Never should have sold that bike.

Here is my finished Carbonéllo. I just finished building up my Farsports 58mm x 28mm rims. I went with an Eno Eccentric 28h in the rear and a BHS SL85 24h in the front. Continental GP4000sII in 25. The wheels came out to 1743g while the whole bike as pictured is 16.75 lbs. The rims are wide. Almost too wide. I had to open up my brake fully and shave down the pads a bit to get reasonable clearance.

Correct I remember him saying "Hopetoo's" but now I realize he was saying "Hope 2s."
It makes sense if you're on a single track trail and find yourself approaching a slower group...kind of an early warning air raid siren.
He mentioned it's also a nice audible reminder to force yourself to keep pedaling and not just coast on downhill sections. Said it actually made him a slightly better rider.

Update: new fenders, they still need a bit of adjusting which is worth it because my butt wont get wet anymore
