Team maffioletti and frejus bikes?
lately there has been a maffioletti pista made by frejus in my size that's been on eBay for awhile and some other various forums. The bike looks beautiful but I was just wondering if anyone around these parts knows any history of the brand or the team. Like when they raced and where they were made. Google searches has resulted in not a ton of info on either. All I found on frejus was that they started in the 50s? I couldn't find any examples of their bikes later than the 70s. But I found some similar maffioletti bikes from the 80s. Here is a link to the ebay ad.

Any info would be great. Thanks!!

^^^this one a pretty high end one from the 60's. They got a little less high end toward the end of the company in the 70's.
I have one of those, a tour de France model from the 70's that I restored with a lot of work because it was there.
No photos yet, but it has an interesting geometry; shorter top tube relative to the size of the bike, with a pretty relaxed fork angle.
So it rides a little differently than most of the bikes you encounter these days. I know nothing about your team bike name, but suspect it
will be a pretty standard better Frejus with the geometry dictated by what was trendy in the race world at the time of manufacture.

Frejus is way older than the 50's. One of the oldest bike brands in Italy. No more bikes after the mid to late 70's
Ghelfi named his bikes for those who lost their lives building the Frejus Rail tunnel under the Alps in the late 1800's.
There is a monument to them in the Piazza Statuto in Torino. Ghelfi's shop was nearby.

Whoah. Lots of good info there. Wonder what they had to do with the maffioletti team then. All of the other bikes I've seen branded maffioletti with similar paint are from the 80s. But this one clearly has details from frejus. Like the seatcluster mainly.

I think someone bought a Frejus and repainted it with Maffioletti decals.
