Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cat-1 Stelvia Road Shoes from Performance.

These are a needed upgrade from my MTB shoes I was commuting with.

The shoe accepts both SPD and SPD SL cleats.

They have been great. Stiff, comfortable, good venting. I dramatic reduction in foot pain, I had a hot spot under the balls of both feet, that's gone. Maintaining a fast cadence is easier. The bike feels more responsive.

@ $99, a good deal.

Michael

Thanks a lot. Yeah, that is kind of my aesthetic. I prefer a subtle/less gaudy color scheme. That is why I always liked bare titanium. I swapped out the wheels though. Put those Easton Ea90 SlXs on it which are about 200 grams lighter than the Real Designs in the pic. I may try to sell those wheels on Ebay.

Bought a ton of spokes (500 or so) from Ochsner today. They had a massive sale on them (odd sizes), and they are the perfect size for building up 650B wheelsets (SRAM iLight dynamo front and Shimano or Campy rear). Bought several spoke storage boxes, too.

Hmmm.....
Bought a set of Shimano 7 speed thumbshifters for $5 from one of our distributors. These are the new ones, not the old ones....

Goofy and geeky? Yes. But so am I.
