...it would be reasonable here in NorCal. I cannot speak for your locality, as prices vary. They are fine bikes, well made ( I think maybe by Panasonic for Schwinn ?)
I would pay $350 for it, even if it needed a little maintenance, which it might. Hard to tell from here. Do a Google search for PDG Paramounts and stuff will come up.

Price is at FMV. Great bike and should fit a 6'2" + rider fine.

These make real nice riders I would agree $350 or so is FMV for one of these. Although I do often times see them listed for a lot more on CL and Ebay they don't seem to move much over this price.

It's worth $350. I'm not sure what "61mm" is; frame sizes are 49cm, 54cm, 56cm, 58cm, 62cm (all are c-t).

The color is "White with Purple Slime"

I had that same exact bike, color and all, mine was a 62cm paid $175 from a bike shop going out of business in nj a few years back

It's got Campanella rims. How could you go wrong? Roy Campanella (November 19, 1921 – June 26, 1993), nicknamed "Campy".

I was going to buy one in Bakersfield 3 years ago of cl priced at 200. When I got there the seller had looked on ebay (at earlier nicer models) and had decided not to honor our original agreement. Now he wanted 300 dollars. So I let him keep it. I would say 350 is fair if all is well with it, but if it needs anything it is on the high side. Any money put in to it above 350 will never be re-couped. It's a decent bike, but as far as paramounts go, the Chicago and Wisconsin frames are what people want when you here people dreaming of owning paramounts. That's where all the value is. My advice would be to pass, unless you are head over heels for this one.

Are you a collector, gatherer? Or are you looking for a primary bike to ride?

If the former, follow whatever your heart tells you. If the latter, follow your head and get a bike with modern and new components that will provide long lasting satisfaction.

Well, I have a 1989 schwinn Tempo, that I absolutely love. Its a bit too small for me though, and no matter how I fit it, I couldnt get it where I need it to be. I love the bike though, its the best, A#1 in being fun to ride, and dependable.

I picked up an 08 allez that fits me great, but I just dont like the bike. I dont know if its the weight, or the aluminum, or what. I just dont like the feel of it as much as my Tempo. I was hoping to maybe make the paramount my regular ride, for recreation, and regular 20-50 mile rides. As it has a fairly similar groupset on it, from around the same era, and I know I like the tempo, and it would sort of match, and I feel theres a good bet Id like it better than this allez.

I really hope its in as good as shape as it looks, but I havnt heard back from the seller yet.

But you realize that for $350 or $400 you could get a new bike (not one with 15-20 year old rubber bits and plastic that have deteriorated) with a guarantee? Hoping something is going to work out isn't generally the best route when shopping for something which also needs to be safe.

It looks like a 58 to me, it should fit a person who is between 5'10 and 6'1. Bring an Allen key set with you so that you can adjust the seat if need be.

I ride 40 year old bikes regularly. They all have new tubes tires cables and brake pads. They are all just as safe as a new bike. This idea that old bikes aren't safe is bs. I'd take a 350 dollar jap paramount over a taiwan target bike built by their 9.00 an hour employee.

You don't get much in a new bike for $350 or $400, even from BD or other web sources.

Its a 62cm with a FMtV (Fair Market Tampa Value) of $200. If I were selling it I'd list it for $225 and take $200.

Very racy bike, late 80's apotheosis of mass-produced (as opposed to artisinally crafted in Wisconsin) steel race bikes. Stiff as a board, light for steel, hard hard oversize tubing that rings like a bell.

Last year I stupidly bought a Series 3 with the wrong components for ~170 in order to make a project for myself but I was doubly stupid because the size was off. In fact it was a huge one like this one. I still have the oddball components but sold the frame to someone who wanted to blast it and clear powder coat it. I wonder if he got it done.

I think they are nice bikes Three points to make
1. Do you like it?
2. Does it fit you?
3. Can you afford it?
If so buy it.
Often times we spend a lot of time to shave a few dollars off here or there and in the end too much time spent to save so little and not enough riding.
Bottom Line: If its in your price range and been on CL for a while make an offer and get out there!

I have one of these series-5 Paramounts and it is wonderful to ride. It's my go-to bike for solo rides and i occasionally use it for group rides. I think that these are very well made bikes, similar in quality to the Waterfords. Great bang for the buck.
