Another new guy looking for advice
Hi everyone! I'm new... hoping to get some suggestions on a good budget mountain bike. My wife and I made the New Year's resolution to lose weight and get in better shape, and we have so many trails around us that can help us do that, but we need to get decent bikes first. Interested primarily in hardtails, since full suspension seems to be too expensive for us, and we don't really need the additional capabilities, to be honest.
Hoping for some guidance. I've been looking at used ones but I honestly don't know which ones to look for. I don't need a super big name brand, just one that works. We are not experts, nor do we plan to be someday, we just want something that will help us have fun and get in shape.
I do have a pretty ambitious trip in mind for one of these bikes that involves quite a few miles of solid uphill on a dirt road. I don't know if my legs will be able to sustain that much work, at least not now, so I was starting to look into the electric assist bikes just for a "just in case" scenario, but these seem prohibitively expensive.
Thanks in advance,

Welcome to Bike Forums. As this is the Introductions forum your question won't get many responses here. I suggest reposting your inquiry in our Mountain Biking forum. https://www.bikeforums.net/mountain-biking/
