Installing Shimano 600 Aero Levers

I've acquired a set of 600 aero levers & I don't know how to install them. I've never had aero levers before, so I don't know how to install them. They came with a couple of little ferrules that I'm guessing keeps the cable housings from disappearing too far into the lever housing.

How do I install these things?

Thanks.

The lever body has a stop to keep the cable housing in place. The ferrules go on the end of your brake cable, which then goes into your lever body. I have always had the best luck keeping the lever loose, getting the cable housing seated and then tightening the lever clamp. Take your time and it will go easy.

Usually to tighten the levers onto the handlebar, you will need a long 4 mm allen wrench. Slip the lever onto the bar, squeeze the lever handle down, and slide the 4 mm, or so, allen wrench straight into the body in order to tighten the clamp around the handlebar. As posted above, put the cables with aero ferrule in, first, before you tighten the lever onto the bar.

I do it that way, too, run the cable through the lever, the housing and then run the housing through the guides, but don't clamp it off. Then I put the levers on, cut the caliper end once I get the length right, and then tighten the cable pretty good and adjust the calipers.

Since this is generally one of the last things I do (on DT shifting bikes), I then wrap the bars. Often, there can be some more adjusting to do once I do, as the wrap tends to alter the cable length a bit.
