Kalkhoff Camaro circa 1980s

Hi - new here!

Not sure I'm allowed to upload photos before making 10 posts?

I recently purchased a 1985ish Kalkhoff Camaro, women's touring frame.
Was in pretty good condition - all parts seemed original.

Had two rigida superchromix 1985 wheels, front was buckled and replaced with the nearest like for like i could - a schurmann chrom.

Can't find anything out about the Camaro. It's a nice colour - a deep electric blue. I've added some white wall tyres I had sitting around and got rid of the awful new racing seat it had on it and have temporarily replaced with a very old brooks white sprung saddle. I actually found a white suede Kalkhoff x Selle Royale seat, that i'd like to put on it but it needs some attention.

Any information on this bike? or anyone got photos of a similar frame? will post some pictures when I'm allowed to.

Kalkhoff, .....woman ..... (hmmmm, rings a bell)
Not much info on German bikes on this Forum, but a good many EU members - so maybe they will add content.

All I got is a pic.

Sorry - a bit gratuitous. But I like her.....hat.

thanks! i have seen these Kalkhoff frames, coupe du monde I think!
My one is a drop frame, with three tubes coming off the rear - a lot of frame! but on the road it feels extremely stable.

Similar to the frames found on women's grand tourers by Peugeot, Raleigh...

Cute Mixte! Welcome to the forums.

I think your front brake is missing a cap nut.

See the front part where there is a cap nut, an adjusting nut and washer? #3

1985 sounds about right. The decal style looks mid-1980s and the Sachs-Huret branding on the rear derailleur was introduced for the 1983 model year. I'm not familiar with this particular model but all the indicators are pointing to bottom of the line or very near to it. The kickstand plate, steel cottered crankset, Cromolux rims, stem mounted shift levers, brake safety levers, stamped dropouts and Huret Eco rear derailleur with claw adapter are typical of entry level bicycles for the era. It's even possible that this was a department store bicycle given the missing chainguard and what appear to be 26" x 1-3/8" wheels.

Yep, wheels are 26 1 3/8. The sticker on the seat tube 'W.G. Hoars Cycles, High Wycombe and Marlow' - was an established seller here in the UK. Long gone now. See many a bike with their name on!
