Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Though Dexter was sinister...

It's a good thing that anti-left-handedness is far enough back that it seems preposterous. I can think of a few other prejudices that should join it.

in other news, I succumbed to an online virtual ride - the Texas Distance Challenge. One year to accumulate the 3612 miles of real riding that it would take to circumnavigate this great (or at least large) state. Mostly, honestly, to keep me from slacking on real miles and to get another jersey with some meaning. They count from July 1st, and you can count mileage after that once you register, so I have just over a third of it done.

I re-found the email at the last moment, but I think they are giving 1 month's grace because of the pandemic.

My dad was a lefty because he was a breach baby and the forceps they used during his birth damaged his right hand. He could not form a fist. That resulted in him not being able to hold a pen, and he never drove a car. He couldn’t even give a firm handshake. But he did play high school football and was a left handed shot putter. One of my most endearing memories of him is the time when a local paper ran the team photo on an anniversary of his high school winning the state championship. He asked me to cut it out for him because he didn’t have a pair of left handed scissors in his office.

I need to get a RealID and my passport expired. However, not going anywhere for awhile so will put that on the back burner.

Had it actually been tied to economics it would still be prevalent rampant.

That is correct, here's a comparison between a MA40 and a 58mm deep Zipp:

The rains seemed to have claimed a victim other than a few oz of Orange Seal and my time - my Wahoo Bolt.

Plugged it in last night and it was giving me an error that read "please plug-out charger!" and, surprise, it wouldn't charge when plugged in but off. It seemed to be taking a very, very slow charge when plugged in, but I left it plugged in overnight and it was still only at ~20% this morning. That amount of charge would normally be enough for 2-3 hours of use, but was dead, dead, dead about a half hour in to my ride.

I put in a ticket with Wahoo last night, hopefully I'll get a response soon. Damn thing is supposed to be IPX7 waterproof... Also, I think that the warranty is 2 years, but I've had it for about 2yr 4mo. I'm going to hope that they take care of me, otherwise it's Garmin City.

Bummer.

Is that because of this issue alone or are there things that Garmin does that the Bolt wouldn't?

I carry a tube with an 80mm valve stem in my road bike flat kits, in case a fellow rider with deep dish rims needs a tube.

A little bit of both. I realize that it's out of warranty, but it's close and it's also a problem that should fall under defect, IMO. Also, some of the features on the Garmin 530 (like the color screen, on-board nav, ANT+ light control, etc) are making the Bolt look dated. I think that the Wahoo Roam is more on par, but that's also $150 more than the Bolt and $80 more than the 530.

Remember I asked about sleeving cables under the BB? No? Well, after spraying lube, dry and wet, along the exposed path and working the FD by hand, it was still sticking, so I replaced the cable and sleeved it. Now it’s like a new system.

The FD cable runs in the bottom slot from right to left and through the window in the tab. It all looks pretty smooth, but it must bind somewhere. It came sleeved, but I took it off when I replaced the cables a month ago.

In MD, licenses expire on your birthday. Mine was up this month. I don’t know when Real ID becomes mandatory.

FWIW I’m super satisfied with the 530
