Education...
So, a new DS 8.4 followed me home today! I'll be sure to post up some pics when I get a chance to take some outside of the garage.
Since I'm somewhat of a research nerd and I plan to take this cycling thing fairly serious in the future I'm looking for some good, educational reading to do. I'd like to read up on riding technique, maintenance, even what the various parts of bikes are and the like.
I've been pouring over the forum and found lots of great stuff so far but no sticky along the lines of "Read this so you don't sound like a complete plonker" type of info.
TIA!

Welcome to the forum.
Here's some reading that will inform and amaze.
Sheldon Brown-Bicycle Technical Information
Being an old fart , I like to read stuff by older (wiser) riders who have done it all and settled on what works in the real world.
Touring sites have good comfort info and GCN on youtube have some funny and informative videos to peruse.
Here's a pretty funny one from GCN.
Don't take yourself too seriously and have fun and ride safe.

Park Tools YouTube video's on repair are really good and informative. Reading how to fix things are one thing, sometimes being shown is helpful.

+1 for Park Tools videos
.
I've used them a few times during the pandemic when I had issues and the LBS up the street was in lockdown.
As I think about doing a project bike, I think I'll be spending time with more of their catalog.

Yes, learn what a "Fred" is. We hybrid types are all Freds. You want to make sure you fit the mold.
Enjoy your new ride!

I'm a newb to doing more than hopping on the bike and pedaling. I found the Park Tools videos on YouTube to be well organized, well presented and thorough - a rarity on YouTube.
