Hi, I'm sure I'm going to get my terminology mixed up but will try to explain the problem as best I can. While cycling I can hear a clicking noise, it sounds similar to a derailleur trying to shift or being misaligned. I can only hear it when I peddle so assume it's coming from the front. If I stop and spin the bike by hand, or flip it upside down there is no noise. I can only hear it while I'm on the bike riding, meaning I can't see where exactly the noise is coming from. The front derailleur isn't rubbing, as I've tried shifting front and rear gears and the noise persists. It's a 10 speed Raleigh Supersport which I bought from ebay as a commuter bike, so not particularly valuable or in amazing condition. I've had the bottom bracket replaced (6 months ago) but the problem is more recent. Any ideas or recommendations would be hugely appreciated, as I'm broke and can't afford a new bike.

Do the easy, cheap things first. Remove pedals, clean and lube the pedal and crank threads and reassemble, tightening firmly. Try borrowing some known-quiet pedals and swapping them in. Check your quick release skewers or axle nuts for tightness. Have a friend cycle alongside and listen to see if they can localize the noise. Make certain that your derailleurs are correctly adjusted. Stand out of the seat and pedal to eliminate seat and seatpost noise.

new BB's loosen over time, probably just needs to be tightened up and let it settle.
