That really jumps out at ya! I like the look. How does it ride? Did not know Raleigh brought in a wishbone seat stay for these models.

my opinion, worth some parts upgrade and some long fast rides.

It rides pretty well so far, it’s a bit hard to perfectly adjust the front mec. with the biopace cranks at the beginning! Do you have any more info about the wishbone frames ?? Seems interesting !

I’ve also find out that the original Raleigh saddle is a pain in the a** (litterally) after a 30min ride, so I’ve changed it since the pics were taken haha

Looks like a nice bike. Any info on the tube set?

Bold choice for them to put the model name on the top tube so big.

It's an interesting frame for sure. I only have experience with Exage components on the mountain bike side of Shimano, but it's good stuff.

Never seen one of these before. Thanks for posting.

It’s weird cause I haven’t found anything similar to this frame in the catalogues yet, it’s a steel frame with a chromo seat tube, nothing too special. I’m from Montréal btw so I guess it’s japanese components customized in Canada back in the 80s

Isn't the cassette Uniglide? It looks like a threaded first cog...

I'm actually using the original freewheel for the moment. And about that, I've changed the rear axle for a new one (it was slightly bent). I'm planning on doing some light bike camping at the end of the summer with some friends, pretty much all asphalted roads. Do you think I'll be fine with some light equipment packed on the bike without bending the new axle??

The wishbone seat stay was a Raleigh Canada feature on their entry level models during this period. The Tange #5 tubing decal misled a lot of people. You had to look closely to see that it referred only to the seat tube. The rest of the frame was hi-tensile steel. It's unfortunate that they did not have the wisdom to outfit these were 700C wheels. Had they done so and spec'd a Tange Infinity main traingle, the price would only have increased by about $50 CDN but it would have been notably lighter and more responsive and sold much better against it's main competition, such as the Norco Monterey SL, Fiori Modena and Bianchi Premio.
