What Bianchi have we here?
Here is a local Bianchi which uses cantilevers and a long wheelbase. I see an Ishiwata 22 sticker. Anyone have a clue as to the geneology and heritage of this model?

It has be largely rebuilt but the subject bicycle started it's life as a circa 1984 Bianchi Randonneur. These frames were not 022 but Ishiwata Magny V. Manufactured in Japan, they were Bianchi's attempt at a grand touring bicycle, being better conceived and executed that the earlier Nuovo Touring and Rallye models.

Hi T-Mar, thanks for the input as always. Ok, I'll see if I can get some better photos of the unit for posterity and serial for the DB. Here is another snapshot of the frame from their Facebook page. It seems I have a duplicate post going. I'll try and torch the twin.

Thank-you for posting the picture showing the Ishiwata 022 decal. I just noticed something else this is atypical. Generally, they didn't have chromed stay ends. Consequently, I'm now thinking that these are variances between the USA and Canadian market models.

This is a 1982 or 83 Canadian Bianchi Touring with no chrome on the frame/fork set at all. I really like the sturdy ride that this bike offers...

I had this bike, or one very like it, for about 30 years. Sadly it died when the derailleur hanger snapped off after a fall.
I liked it a lot!

Hi, well that's a good testimonial for it. Bummer about the hanger but by the looks of things according to your bike manifest you've got lots of goodies to help you through the tough times!

A few more photos of it. Sorry about the picture quality; Ipod touch is all I had (with no back camera). Serial included for the db. Bit of a mishmash of shifting components. The downtube shifters were suntour so probably the mountech is the original component and the shimano was a replacement (and a good one too). I'm trying to encourage those guys that if they are going to charge for & market a fine bike like that to at least clean it thoroughly; so much more appetizing.

I loved my Bianchi Randonneur...
Went with me on many adventures at ages 13-17. Toured LI and NE by myself in those days.

The frame was manufactured in Japan during April 1983, so it should be a 1983 model.
