With their skills, what's the point of making a so-so* $5,500 folding bike in titanium that will sell a handful… when they could make a much more successsful Better Brompton™ in steel with disk brakes + Alfine11 for $2,000?

https://www.kinetics-online.co.uk/fol...ikes/brompton/

Grrr…

* Why doesn't the front wheel fold over the chain à la Brompton?

It's weird but the Burke 20 looks great but the smaller Burke 16 looks wrong. It is pretty much the same bike but scaled down but visually it doesn't work for me.

I'd rather have a 2-3kg heavier bike and $5000 extra in my pocket.

Agree, I'm amazed no-one's done an improved "Brompton" with decent gearing. All it takes is a wider rear section.

The Burke is just a bit too plain for the price, lacking the wow factor.

AFAIK, the Ultimate Folding Bike was never a big hit.

It costs more than my car

At $10-$15K, beautiful though the UFB is, it is beyond the average folder owner (or wannabe) justification window. You’ve entered a niche market within a niche market.

I'd rather save my $$$ and get a Mezzo, or my personal favorite,...the Dahon Clinch.

Regret

One the great regrets of my bicycle life was passing up on a used Mezzo last year. I was too stupid to realize how rare and good they are. I’ve saved the e-mail correspondence with the guy as a reminder to just how dumb I was and to trust my instincts and buy.
