How long should Speedplay Zero bodies last?
I have three bikes that all have Speedplay Zero pedals. How long should the bodies last? The bike on my trainer has developed a nice in to out movement while clipped in. The cleats are still pretty new. I'm starting to get the same movement in my second bike as well. Maybe 3200 miles on the trainer bike and 2000 on the second bike. For a $150 bucks for the pedals I'd expect them to last longer that they have.
The body kits are $100 which I feel is quite high. I emailed Speedplay weeks ago and got nothing in return.
Anyone else experience this?

My trainer bike, and my main road bike have Zeros with over 10,000 miles on them, and still feel fine. I grease them a couple times a year, no real schedule. Additionally, I clean the "bow-ties" and cleats occasionally, and lube cleats, when clipping gets "tight".

You need to lube the cleat regularly to reduce spring clip wear. I'd look there before assuming the pedal proper is worn out which will take much longer.

My Zeros have roughly 35000 miles on them, and they still function properly. My cleats last a season or two (7-8000 miles/yr) before they start to get worn. I do lube them once a week or so.

The bodies last thousands of miles. You can measure wear by looking at the R and L on the bodies. When they are really gone, you can start to consider replacing.
Regarding the replacement kits, make sure you can remove the current bodies first. In my experience, the bolt holding the body on comes right out only about 50% of the time. If you have SS or Ti spindles, you're better off buying Chromoloy and swapping bodies - so you also get new bearings.

I do this as well. I use a good dry lube on the cleats themselves. Maybe I'm just hard on my cleats? They are only 3-4 months old however.
