I am ordering a Velocity DeepV wheelset from IRO. Can anyone tell me what MSW and non-MSW stands for. I am thinking that it is referring to the machining of the rim. Thanks.

machined sidewall and non-machined sidewall. It means whether or not there is a machined surface forthe brakes to contact.

you nailed it. non machined has no brake surface. Machined has a brake surface.

OK, I think the non-machined look the best. I will ride brakeless for the most part. If I decide to run a brake occasionally, will the powdercoat be damaged on the non machined rim?

personally, i like the msw, since the silver breaks up the colors a little bit.. in a good way. but that's personal aesthetic preference

damaged, no. But it will leave some black streaks on the rim. If you don't use the brake that often, you should be fine.

Yeah, it won't look nice, but the rim won't be "damaged." What I mean by damaged is that it won't wear through the sidewalls of the rim and render it unuseable.
