Compact Road Crankset

I am building another fixie and am down to the crankset. I have a compact crankset laying around that I would love to use but I am unsure about chainring selection. So, what is the smallest outside ring I can get and largest inside ring on a 110BCD? Thanks.

33T is the smallest possible i believe, avaliable through Harris Cyclery last i saw. 34T is much more common though (FSA makes some, avaliable from JensonUSA).

You'll be really hard pressed to find anything smaller than a 34t. If you get into 4-bolts, then it goes down to 32.

The inside and outside BCD on a double crankset are the same. So you can put a 50t ring on the inside and a 34t ring on the outside. Do whatever gives you the best chainline. Seeing that you are building another fixie, you should already know this.

Well what I meant by inside/outside is that most places sell rings for compacts as "inside" or "outside". I was really hoping that someone would say that there is a 42 or a 44 out there somewhere for 110BCD. Is that not the case? Thanks.

lots. here are some:

the cheaper rocket ring works quite well for my purposes, your mileage may vary.

The "inside" and "outside" refers to how they are ramped and pinned to help shifting. Since you won't be shifting, it doesn't really matter, and you probably don't rings that are anyways.

You can find rings from 34t all the way up to 54t pretty easily.

I second salsa rings. One differance between large and mid rings. The large ones are made to fit the chainring bolt to the outside. Middle rings are not made that way. I would only use a ss specific ring though.

I'm done with rocket rings after this one, 1000 miles or so and it looks like crap, the teeth aren't worn so much as they are deformed.
