Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Raleigh 2008 Sneak Peak

A friend of a friend works for Raleigh, and was taking some snaps of their "new" bikes: the re-designed One Way, and their new Steel Touring bike. Keep in mind that these are teaser shots, and not production shots...

Steel Tourer
'08 One Way

Couple of notes:

--WTF with the tt protector? Looks like the Vanilla design.
--I'm wondering if Brooks will be standard on those bikes...
--Doesn't that Touring rig look an awful lot like the Kogswell P/R? Even the color is similar....

It's your post and you didn't even read the article...

"Oh...and yes that is a Brooks Saddle and Brooks Leather tape on the bike - it will come stock with this lovely spec."

Those don't look like top tube protectors, they look like couplings so the bike can be folded.

That touring bike looks pretty hot. I'd guess the bicycle touring is more popular now than anytime in the last 30 years, judging by the number of off-the-peg touring bikes around.

In fact, both of those bikes look great. I love the Cantis on the One-Way. I bet they sell a ton of both of these things. It's great to see bike companies making inexpensive, practical bikes.

Nah, I already inquired. They're protectors.

And thanks, Nims-- I just glanced through, and didn't read...but hey, I'm sure someone else would've asked: I'm glad to take the stupidity bullet for this one....

those look a lot like they're shooting for the catalog. seeing as it hasn't been printed yet, i wouldn't be surprised if they ended up in it.

Yeah, you're totally right. Couplings would have been totally amazing, though!

Looks like not much of a change from last year's one-way... horizontal dropouts instead of track ends would be nice on some of these off-the-peg ss/fixed bikes.

Brooks bartape looks like foreskin.
