Rare Titanium Birdy

I have a Titanium Birdy, one of only 200 ever made, that I bought as a collectable. Its a unique bike and a beautiful piece of engineering. After owning it and never using it I've decided to sell it and buy something that I will feel good about using (the Birdy is too nice, I'd feel guilty commuting with it).
I paid full price for it but am trying to determine what the current market value is. Here is a link to NYCEWheels who used to sell it but don't have any left. Limited Edition 2011 Titanium Birdy – NYCeWheels.com

1500-2000 seems a bit optimistic to me, and the companies asking price seems awfully optimistic to me as well. Not sure how huge the market is for a bike from pacific (by an un-named ti maker) ti folder with 105. I don't think it has any "OMG, I WANT THAT, ONLY 200 MADE!" value, the value it would have would be as a bike someone would want.

At the end of the day it's a weird, used ti folder with pretty mediocre parts in a strange niche...I'd guess it's going to be hard to sell and that it will probably disappoint on selling value. A specific number? Beats me...I know Brompton made a ti folder that they wanted big money for and which, if I recall, no one bought. I'd honestly be surprised if this went over $1000 in an open auction (definitely not how I'd sell it).

My advice...come up with a number you'd take, list it on ebay as a BIN. I don't think you'd do well with a standard auction.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that this bike will appeal most to a niche buyer. Birdy has a big fanbase in Japan where this would be considered a rare/collectible item.

Well it's not a Moulton......
So I'd never price it close to those, coming from a C&Ver perspective, but with a little aging, it can appreciate in value, but never as much as a Moulton.
The engineering just isn't as eye opening as Moulton ' s space frame was and still is.....
JMOs.....

Hey Mark,

You'll get a more accurate appraisal on the folding bike forum.

I hear you. In this case, hopefully oddness translates to specialness. This one was positioned by Birdy to be collectible/rare from the start which is why they produced only 200 of them.

I liken it to a copy of the White Album from the original run of pressings.

You obviously know a lot more about this segment than me, but all I see is an unnamed ti builder (and I'm very skeptical of unnamed ti builders) connected to Pacific selling a bike to a small niche and calling it collectible. 5 years after the small release, a company is still trying to sell them. Is birdy equatable to the Beatles among the folder set?

If it were a Moulton, or Brompton...I'd get it. A company owned by pacific? Not seeing it. I also have found that things made to be collectible rarely are.
