Article about bike/beer jerseys

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Article about bike/beer jerseys

maybe this is trolling, but i thought you might be interested... if you like beer and bikes, anyway.

I write for a website called Hoosier Beer Geek, and I'm a cyclist - so I thought it might be interesting to talk to breweries and find out how they got into cycling jerseys and what the ties are... anyway, I wrote an article about it at www.hoosierbeergeek.com

Great article man! I too live in Indiana and love craft beer. I own two Jerseys, Bell's Oberon and Founders and I wear them with a great deal of pride. I have always wondered about the connection and why so many breweries make jerseys. Whenever I go to a breweries website for the first time I always check the clothing section to see if they sell them, and I would say about half the time they do!

Nice article & fabulous resource for those of us who can't get enough beer jerseys, thanks Mike!

My wife got me the Arrogant Bastard Ale jersey for my birthday last year 'cuz that's my favorite beer. When I learned there was a Harpoon IPA jersey, I told her I wanted it for this year's birthday. But now that I know there are Smuttynose and Dogfish Head jerseys, well, crap, I'm set for life!

Too bad Dogfish Head is charging $100 for their jersey. Even if I did like the design of that one I wouldn't buy it on principle. But if you like the colors of that one you should check out Stone's Ruination jersey, it is the best looking one I have ever seen.

I had an Oberon jersey that got stolen when my car was broken into. I would love to find an Anchor Steam jersey someday

Here's me wishing I had a Fat Tire in hand after finishing the Horribly Hilly Hundreds last Saturday. This jersey gets more people commenting than any other I wear. It's usually "Alright! Fat Tire!!!" My usual response is... "Yeah, they serve it at the Rest Stops on this ride!" Wishful thinking indeed....

thanks for the comments folks - good to see the interest.

i've got a fat tire jersey, which i bought because i'm quite fond of the beer... well at least i thought i was until we did a blind taste test last week and it came in dead last.

we're hoping the beer was just a bad batch.

Eh... As long as my wife keeps drooling over Assos and Etxe Ondo jerseys, I can buy up all the $100 jerseys I want and still look like the frugal one!

Hurray Beer!

MMMMM...Dogfish Head. Makes me miss being in a state where I can get the stuff. I want me a good 120 minute IPA...

Jersey's ok but not my favorite though. A local brewery, Uinta Brewing http://www.uintabrewing.com/ , sponsors my team so they give us a bunch of free beer (we are really popular at the end of races) http://www.cutthroatracing.org/

Anyway, Hurray Beer!

If Sam Adams ever sanctions an Optima or Triple Bock Jersey I'd go for it. Would be happy to get a Jolt cola jersey. Boil out the fizz, add yeast and ferment that. Or a shot of Everclear per bottle.

As much as I like AB, I like Oaked AB even better and Double AB more so too. I care for the AB jersey, but like the Ruination one.

I have beer socks from the Sock Guy. Mugs of frosty beer at the ankles, with the Ben Franklin saying "Beer is proof that god loves us..." on the bottom. I wear them with my LionsGate Lager jersey from Vancouver BC.
