Diverge 2018

I saw that Specialized will be revamping the Diverge for 2018. Anyone know if a they'll be offering a an aluminum frame model with Shimano 105 components?

We'll find out soon since they're supposedly releasing it in a few weeks. My guess would be not since the dropped the aluminum 105 model for 2016.

Here's the bike for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. I'm sure it'll ride great but I can't past the looks of this and the Roubaix. There's merit in making a good looking bike.

Yeah, I'm a bit bummed that the new Diverge loses its sleek lines but I guess if this new design helps to improve compliance and reduce weight, then we just have to accept it.

Since the new seatstays are quite low, will it be able to hold racks? At least with the DSW version?

And I do wonder how will the DSW Future Shock looks like as to have the scalloped shape at the front like the carbon version is quite difficult to be done with aluminium

Yeah, for 2017 Diverge, if you want 105 you have to take carbon frame and pay $2800. There are several competitor bikes in the "gravel" class with 105, disc brakes, aluminum frame, for under $2000.

I guess I will keep my 2016 Diverge Expert X1 and get a 2018 Roubaix.

I've heard that there will be a new alu' and carbon 2018 Diverge with the Future Shock system. For the Roubaixs, Specialized are charging a premium price because it has the Future Shock and there is no alu' version of the Roubaix. The Diverge pricing is likely to be similar - significantly higher price for the 2018 Diverges than the 2017 given the same equipment. Given the price increase needed for the Future Shock models, I doubt there'll be a budget option available, I expect that they'll keep the 2017 alu' Diverge for that without the Future Shock. Since the alu' Diverge Future Shock is likely to be at the higher end of the alu' bike price range, I wouldn't be surprised if they equip it with Shimano 105.

I'm not sure how much longer we're going to have to wait for official details on the new Diverges. Specialized will be launching the new Tarmac shortly before the Tour de France, and they'll probably want to give the Diverge it's own separate announcement. The availability of the Diverge needs to be relatively soon since they've already ran down the stock of the 2017 Diverges and there are none left to order in most markets. This all suggests that the launch is imminent and availability should be not too long afterwards. Also, Bicycling.com isn't the sort of website that would publish that "unofficial" photo without first checking with Specialized that it was OK with them, so Specialized must be planning to officially launch it very soon.

It really looks terrible and that paint scheme doesn't help.

Nice catch and yeah, that paint scheme looks ugly, let's hope that is just a prototype color, the current Diverge colors is solid

No thanks.
That's weird, I didn't have to key in any email address, just close the pop up on the upper right I think

I like it. I'm not a fan of the current 'curvy' design AND I'm really digging the color scheme. To each their own

World would be a boring place if we all liked the same things

Another one. Don't care for the frame but love the color.

There were a few in Emporia last Saturday. They look pretty sweet if you ask me. If you scroll through photos from the Gravel Guru you may see some in action

I tried to post the URL to the photo gallery, but am not allowed since I'm new. Sorry...

I don't understand all the hate for the design. It looks pretty standard to me and I'm no Specialized fan. I don't get it..

Vinuneuro - I do have the photos in a bit larger format. I'm unable to send a PM with my email though since I haven't made 10 posts yet.

Still can't get past the clunky look of the future shock.

They were running 38c Triggers on the bikes at Kanza with adequate clearance. Looks like you could run 40c without issue, but I didn't actually measure anything.

Nice! Pity they didn't win, imagine what the news will be like

Though considering how muddy it gets, why not water packs instead of water bottles? It looks disgusting to drink from it.
