I got my Ironman down to 21-1/2 lb by installing Microshift brifters and Vuelta XRP racing wheels on it. You shouldn't have a problem getting yours close to 21 lbs too.

I have a couple questions:
I originally posted this as being an '86, based on the "6" in the serial number. However, I do not see this paint scheme and components in the '86 catalog, but they are in the '87 catalog.
So what "year" is it?...
Yellow white Master is 87. Your s/n says frame made in July of 86. My identical bike is N6S... So made a little later in 86.

Great results. I should try that with my Miami Vice bike.

Waiting to see how you like your IM ride compared to your Trek 660.

Love the yellow tires.
This stuff would look great on that bike!

Good luck with the build.

I am going "non-Shimano" on this bike, at least as much as possible. Once that last part arrives I'll start posting some pics again.
To clean the frame & fork, I use terrycloth towels, cut into strips, and Turtle Wax Polishing Compount Light to Medium Cleaner, and a lot of elbow grease.
What a dramatic change... really nice work!
Seedless cotton diaper batting, available cheap at most fabric stores, works great for polishing as well.

That Sprint brake set looks like a nice one. The levers look comfortable.

Nice job cleaning this up so far.
