Tire recommendations

OK, I know everyone will have their favorite so I'll try to be specific enough to get the answers I'm looking for.
I have a Giants escape city with 700x32 tires. I am looking for recommendations for the best all-around tire for city riding almost exclusively on pavement. Puncture resistance is the least of my concerns. I want a tire than has the best combinations of weight, rolling resistance and grip in both wet and dry conditions.

I'll sacrifice weight for handling and speed for grip in wet conditions. So in sum, I want that tire that is good in wet and dry on pavement with good rolling without the need to be great in one scenario while poor in another and again, puncture resistance is nice but not as important as good overall performance (I can change a tube). Thanks!

Schwalbe Marathon Supreme, if they have a size you like! Bonus, they have excellent flat resistance. I run mine 5# to 10# over max of 85PSI, because that is where the roll the best. 92PSI to be exact!

Have you considered Continental GP4000 or GP4Season

Mickey, one tire you might like is the Panaracer Pasela. These are super light tires that are extremely popular with touring and urban cyclers. You can get these with gumwalls or as blackwalls. In 32mm wide, they'll likely be around 400g or less.

There is a shortcut on the description page "Weight and specifications". It will take you to a page where you can compare all the different tires in their lineup.

For $10 that looks like a fine tire. Even if it wears quick...$10!

reflective I guess!

"A reflective strip on the sidewall also lends some extra visibility for added safety during low light conditions."

mine (40mm) is 2nd from the right

let me know how you like them. I've been very happy with them. the big ones run a little wider than advertised at max pressure & they say that right up front. the 28 (gone) & 32mm models should be true to advertised width

took another look at biketiresdirect, looks like that is a daily special. I paid $20.49 ea last year for the 40mm model

what size did you get?

I haven't ordered them yet. Got to do it form home. But I'll probably go with the 35mm. I have 38's on the bike now but was thinking of going thinner. Plus my fenders don't have much clearence on the 38's I have on their now so I'd rather error on the side of caution and get a tire that will inflate to 36mm than one that inflates to 39mm.

The 38's apparently aren't part of this sale anyway.

And if I end up hating 35mm tires....these are $10!!!!!! Can't go wrong!

Do they grip okay on crushed gravel, hardpack dirt, etc? 90% of my riding is pavement. But I do take this bike on rail trails now and then.

Not like it's hard to put the knobbier tires I have back on it. But it'd be nice to have something that grips the gravel decently too.

oh yeah, totally, even mud & loose sand, they're very stable. if you want narrower, those 35s miiiight be closer to the 38s than you might like. the 32s might be the answer. had a heck of a time fitting the 40s on my FX

What don't you like about the tires you have? You might have just the tire you're looking for already.

The biggest issue I see with the Michelin Protek is their weight

Black/Reflective - 700c x 35mm
Weight: 730 grams

Better tires will be around 400-500 grams for that size. Then again, these are $10 each, and are round, so they roll.

Yeah, we're talking roughly an extra pound for both tires.

If I exercised more or ate healthier I could get that pound back real quick.

And for $10....I'll gladly push that extra pound down the road.

My current 38's are legitimately 38mm across.

The website says the Protek 35's measure 37mm. So I should be a little thinner with a good mm to spare.

Sorry, I meant brand/model. I'm curious if you like whatever they are. I'm always interested in collecting info about who likes or doesn't like what tires any why. :-)

Vittoria Voyager Hyper in 700 x 38 or 32 is what I would recommend.
https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.com/tour-reviews/vittoria-voyager-hyper-2016

I've got the 32s on my Tricross and they're awesome. Fast, light, quiet, grippy, plush, reflective, etc.
