Yep, the Paul Bunyan Trail in Minnesota took over the top spot a few years back.

One of the more remarkable (to me) rail trails is the combined South and North County (Westchester) trailways as well as the connected Putnam (county) Rail Trail. When combined with a 1.5 mile section in ‘Da Bronx in Van Cortland Park, goes near 50 miles due north out of NYC. It’s the former NY Penn Central rail line, is (or will be) paved (48 miles) or gravel.

I guess it’s remarkable to me as it’s a NYC gem, in a dense urban and suburban area. Many folks ride out of Manhattan or the Bronx, to the commuter rail line at the trails northern terminus, than catch a train back to NYC.
