Question on ease of use of 2016 Cannondale floor pump.
Its a good pump.
A pretty neon green which the salesman says makes it pump faster.😉🙄😉
But its the pump head that pains me. Dual sided to fit most bikes.
Automaticaly grasps the valve threads too.
All you do is press down and it pops into place.
therein lies the rub. It takes a lot of pressure to get it to clamp down.
Even if my tube is just getting a top up the valve tries to descend right into the rim.
Now I can pinch two fingers around the valve which lessens the issue but its a pain.
Anyone have a similar issue and or a fix?

Cut off the head and replace it with one you like.

The valve descending into the rim depends mostly on the tire pressure and the type of valve you use, nothing to do with the pump. Which valve head side do you use? What tire pressure do you use? How often do you top up? IF you only pump your tires when they feel soft, you will always have problems.

I have that pump, use it regularly. In practice the valve pushing-in has never been a problem in the five years since I got it.

I don't wait til the tires feel soft.
I just do it automatically every three or four days.
I use the right side of the valve head.
The presta side woulen't even fit on anyway.
I have used floor pumps all my life and
never had an issue like this.
