Schwinn Varsity model year?
I just picked up another cheap Schwinn to work on and wondered if it is safe to assume that the model year for the Varsity I have would be a 1977 if I verified it was manufactured in December 1976 by the Serial number? The Serial number starts with MM and that would be December 1976. So I'm assuming this would be for the 1977 models most likely right?

They typically started making the new bikes in the fall to have them to the dealers for the Christmas season. Another verification for Schwinn is most models have a four digit number lightly stamped into the head badge. The first three numbers are the day of the year, the last one is the year. It's up to you to figure out the decade, but that isn't too difficult by comparing catalog pictures.
