Looks like fun, extra nice that it's close. I've never been to an actual bike park but I have thought about it. They have one at Mammoth Mountain where you buy a lift pass and it takes you up to 11,000 feet. I've heard there are enough trails to keep you busy enough so you only need to take the lift up once.
A couple years ago Bike Magazine had a trip to a resort deep in Canada with trucks to shuttle riders out and a helicopter to a remote mountaintop on the final day. I so wanted to do it but didn't have anyone to go with me and convince me to go. I saw the pictures and a video after and I think I would have been fine on the trails but definitely would have been the oldest one there.

There's a little hill about an hour and a half away from me with a lift that rents downhill bikes, but the hill is so small I've never had much of a desire to spend the cash.

Man, something stung me hard on the ankle in the dark this morning. Much worse than that wasp from a few weeks ago. I’ll spare you all the pic but it made a hole and is all red around it.

I never mentioned the affects, but the bee/wasp sting on Saturday got much worse after the ride on Sunday. Swelled up real good and itched like the dickens. From Sunday night through Wednesday morning, I spent the majority of the time with an ice pack on my hip.

Yesterday when I was on the tractor it felt like something was biting me. Not once, but several times over many minutes. I thought about stopping and taking my shirt off but it was back shoulder/underarm area and I couldn't have seen the area anyway.

I'm not really in to wearing kit from pro teams, but this article on the very abrasion resistant fabric incorporated in to the Team Subweb kit popped up in my news feed; I'd certainly be interested, if available (it doesn't hurt that I have a Cervelo). I'd love to see this implemented in non-team apparel some time soon.

I'd like to sometime as well. Years ago my family would take a semi-regular vacation to Steamboat to go skiing - the best thing ever was the sequence of blue runs from the top of the mountain that would take somewhere around 45 minutes to get to the bottom. I'd love to do something similar on a MTB.
There's a little hill about an hour and a half away from me with a lift that rents downhill bikes, but the hill is so small I've never had much of a desire to spend the cash.

This is near the top of the final climb before the ripping descent back to the lake. I need to do that again some day.

A few years back 8 of us did a ride near Lake Isabella where you take a shuttle van to 9200 feet and ride singletrack back down to the lake @2500. It's mostly downhill and drops 5000 feet in the last 8 or 9 miles. There are flowing springs and beautiful high meadows along the way. We stopped for pictures and lunch and spent 5+hours on the trail.
Walking down the driveway I slipped on some acorns. Got me to thinking: you know how you can rent goats to clear out overgrowth? What if you could rent a bear to eat the acorns off your driveways/sidewalks?
