Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thar wasn't my experience in Wyoming. We stayed in Medicine Bow at the hotel and the menu was limited. One of our riders was vegan and didn't want anything on the menu. They told us to go to the store and get whatever we wanted and they would cook it for us. I was very good. Then we stayed in Rock Springs and all the restaurants were Chinese. It was good, too.
The food didn't get bad until the south. Not all of it but they seemed more geared toward quantity instead of quality.

Yesterday on my way back home, I got whizzed by (can’t really call it ”passed”) someone on what I like to assume to be an eMTB, going uphill on the MUP .

I mean, I’m not the best of my shape to begin with, and riding a 29lbs steel bike with panniers full of clothing, shower supplies etc adds up too, but getting whizzed by someone leisurely pedaling on an MTB is reaaally demoralizing.

In all the years I've owned my coupled bike, I have not once had to deal with tangled cables.

More than I would pay for a bike, but it's just biggish part for a biggish sailboat or a quarter of a year of private school.

Wouldn’t know, never had one. I believe he meant it as a “convenience of not having to deal with derailleur cables”.

A guy I used to ride with also raced road motorcycles. He spent at least $20k a year on keeping it going. But yeah, I wouldn't spend that much for a bicycle but I know people who do.

Don't folks know you set them up with couplers? You unscrew the couplers and take apart the cables before breaking down the bike.

By the way I have some couplers lying around if anyone wants them now that I am out of this sport. It was too fat for me.

Cable couplers? I've been meaning to buy a new set of three. I can give you a US mailing address and pay you for shipping.

Hmmm. I was a paid member. Maybe it ran out.
I do use an ad-blocking browser. Maybe this one slipped through.
Either way, it seems odd that we would advertise for an entity whose name we are forbidden to mention.

He's not talking about ads - he's talking about social media links for the site.
