Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's fun and it's been good. I hear that there's a bit of a mid-season lull, but I haven't seen it yet.

I bought him a $40 REI gift card and mailed it to him.

If by "interesting," you mean, "clenching my sphincter while I try to stay on the road," I'd tend to agree.

I left a $75 spark plug socket under a customer's hood and he brought it back when he came in for additional service. I gave him free labor on a small job I did.

I left some tools under the seat of a customer's car and the service writer called the customer and he refused to look for them or bring his car by so I could get them back.

I cut one of my lawns then trimmed back more bushes. 3 more to go up front then I have to cut back my daisy's on the NW side of the house. It never ends.

Next house will be a smaller, flat yard with minimal landscaping. I'm not getting any younger.

That was in November.

In May, I get a call from some guy in Bozeman who'd found a phone, and after drying it out in rice, charged it up and called "Home". I let him keep it, since I already had a newer, nicer phone, AND because he had called to ask where to ship it.

There are two US government Blackberries at the bottom of tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay, due to my carelessness about fooling around on boats with them clipped to my belt. The third one went swimming sufficiently far south that the water was clear enough for me to find it, hand in the lifeless carcass, and avoid the endless memos. When iPhones were authorized, I put them in my pocket and haven’t drowned one yet.

When I was in Italy in 2013 we took a wet day off from riding to take the train from our base into Venice. As I was walking across the Ponte Rialto my wallet fell out of my pocket. An Italian woman talking on her cell phone ran up the steps after me yelling and waving my wallet in her hand. Major disaster averted.
