Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We're booked in the Courtyard by Marriott near the Cancun airport. US$65, taxes included. Quite reasonable.

The H2s are all 6 liter v-8s, AWD, and 8600 pound gvw
The H1s are all 6.5 diesels and they suck so much I wouldn't work on them.

Prius uses one of the Motor Generators (I think MG2) to control the sun gear in the planetary. It is such a bad ass CVT, I don't think anyone can top it. Honda had a variable belt type deal, and I honestly don't remember the Subaru ever having one.

H1s? Yes but I don't think for the public.

Subaru Justy had CVT in the 80s.

That's not a car. That's an Ultimate Performance Machine, and shares that category with the Pontiac LeMans of the late 80's.

Those LeMans from Korea were just weird. Daewoo produced them. GM bought Daewoo and that's where the Aveo came from, among others.

DAF had a variable pulley CVT from 1960. Although I suspect that any imported into the states were more as privately imported curiosities. After all the market for a slow, sub-1 litre European city car named after a flower would have been almost non-existent back then.

I had happened across the viewing area while on the bike ride today and thought that the kids would get a kick out of it; it's just a mile-long access road that leads to 15-20 parking spaces and a couple picnic tables, but it's close to the some of the action. I was right - the boy, in particular, was bouncing all over the place. In our time there, we saw two planes land and another 8-10 take off, mostly medium-sized passenger jets. I think that we lucked out with the wind direction, too - the runway closest to us had the headwind, so a lot were taxiing over to take off from it.
There is an airport over look at the Charlotte airport that has a pretty huge parking area. When we lived in charlotte I would go there pretty often. Food trucks would make it a point to be there on days that Charlotte was operating south. (runway closest to viewing area). I was hoping to take my daughter there but we moved.

They have the only flying mosquito in the world, and a flying replica of an me 262. In october they have a ww1 airshow, and in the spring they do a ww2 airshow. The museum has a grass strip and is set up like a ww2 airstrip from England.

Yes hubcaps. We got the “base” LX model. The higher end models have fancier wheels.

Time to ride. It’s possible I can claw my way up to the top 5 for the week. Can’t podium with so many serious cyclists in the group.

It was like leaving an abusive relationship.
I'm Doug and that's my story.
I've owned nothing but Hondas and Acuras since 1992, 11 in all. But in the middle, we inherited a 2004 Malibu Maxx. It was a fun car to drive, more than enough power and acceleration, decent mileage, etc., but I got to know the local service department intimately. We only kept it a year as a third runaround car but in that year, both key fobs quit, driver side window switch broke, needed a steering rack, and some trim pieces fell off. A week ago, I got a recall notice from Chevrolet and threw it away without reading because I couldn't remember ever owning a Chevrolet until my wife pointed out that we had inherited her mother's car.

Edit: I forgot, there was a couple Toyotas in there, too.
