I heard how they have a $39 bike stand during the holidays. All Trader Joe’s has is leftover pumpkin spice everything bagels.

I haven't seen anything bike related in my local (central California) Aldi.

Are you sure you're not thinking of Eldi? German brand of bicycle tools, including a pretty skookum bike stand for pro mechanics, cast iron, very heavy and solid. Maybe they made lightweight consumer-grade stands too?

Here's one available for the same price on Amazon. Different design from the Aldi version, maybe slightly cheesier, but it looks as if it would be a good home work stand.

It appears to have four legs versus five on the Aldi stand, and---the main difference, it looks like---it has a screw-down clamp to hold the bike versus the Aldi stand's quick-release-style clamp.

Although it could be argued that a screw-down clamp is safer---you don't run the risk of setting the clamp for the seat post diameter and then absent-mindedly clamping and crushing the seat tube. (A customer in a shop where I worked once threw his Pinarello up on a stand and without checking the clamp adjustment before slamming it closed. Oops.)

By the way, if you end up getting this stand or one like it: don't extend the legs so they're splayed out as shown in the photos. You'd be tripping over them every time you moved. You should adjust them higher on the central post such that the stand is stable enough for the job and yet the legs don't get in your way.

Another stand, Walmart, telescopic (can be useful), quick release clamp, fifty bucks.

Note that the odd-looking rod hanging off the side of this stand and the Amazon stand is meant to keep the handlebars from swinging to one side when you work on a bike. It uses rubber straps to clamp to the top tube and handlebar.

I bought one identical to the Easyfashion Trakhak posted. It works well and the telescoping feature is handy. And as he mentioned, you don't have to sprawl the legs completely out, it is quite stable with them not and it gives you a few more inches if you need it. I think you would have to really get crazy to crush a tube if you had it set for a smaller tube and tried to clamp a larger one with the quick release as you can tell you have it too tight before it toggles locked.

However the first stand he posted has knobs in Park blue so that gives it some panache.

Fwiw, the Aldi stands have always been sold in the spring around me. Its the same time as when they sell a bunch of other cheap cycling stuff for a few weeks- locks that aren't really great, helmets that aren't really great, gloves that aren't really great, etc.

I shop at Aldi (and Lidl) every week -- have not seen the bike stand in the flyer in a while. We should all do a PSA topic again when they do! Mine has a five-leg base, I like that better than the Amazon one in the link.

I agree that the Aldi stand is probably a little better. But, as has been pointed out in this thread, Aldi's bike stand doesn't seem to have been available for over a year. I have the Aldi version, but I'd have no problem using the Amazon one.

Maybe we should start a write-in campaign via Aldi's (Lidl's too) "contact us" on their website... not that I've found either particularly responsive.

It's been several years since I've seen them at our local Aldi. I was fortunate to pick one up for $25 before they disappeared. I have a professional-grade Park stand in the basement shop, but I keep the Aldi stand in the garage to save me from hauling the heavy REI eBike and Raleigh 3-speeds down and up the basement stairs.

Uh, once you've carried a Park stand up the stairs, you do not need to ride -- you've done your exercise for the day! Similarly, I have a basement stand but it's the bench type and I have it bolted down (to vertical pillar mid-workshop); and, I really don't like working down there, unheated and ill lit, I need to spruce up the basement. The Aldi stand started out as something I'd use int he back yard for bike-cleaning duties but, now I use it for most tasks.

For the benefit of the OP and others, I hope Aldi offers the stand soon -- but I suspect it's likely to be part of a springtime bike-oriented sales feature.

From my experience and that of others here who have reported not seeing them for several years---might be time to let go.

My understanding is that the Aldi that owns Trader Joe's is a different Aldi than the grocery stores that had the stands. The Aldi family split the empire years ago.

I have not seen a bike stand at Aldi in our area.
In general, Aldi seems tricky when it comes to seasonal items - unusual or seasonal items tend to be once in a life-time type of things. If you don’t pick them up when you see them, chances are quite high that you will never see them again.
One of our children bought this heavy duty ice box from Aldi for $30 ( may be a little more but not much). It turns out that the ability of it to hold cold items/ice compares very favorably with the Yeti brand which sells for over $200!
We never saw that again at Aldi or we might have bought another.

Just got home from shopping, spied the bike stands at Lidl ($35) but not Aldi; these were not in the weekly flyers but there they were. YSMV (Your Store May Vary)

After a year my Aldi stand's main clamp bolt is stripped. I'd recommend greasing it heavily and to not clamp with too much force, that bolt is made from balsa wood.

I got the Lidl one a couple of years ago. It's not the quality of the ancient Park that I used in the 80s and 90s in a shop, but for home use, it holds the bike and is stable. It has a magnetic tool tray also. It came with a bar to stabilize the front wheel, although I never use it. Can't complain for the price! (Plus I picked up some of their Weisswurst while I was there)!

I found this last week, the only bike-related item I've seen in Aldi in a long time.

Maybe you live in the wrong county. In Wicomico County only one location of Acme, Food Lion, etc. can sell beer or wine. In other counties the law is different.

I don't know much about wine, but I think it's a decent $6 bottle.
