The leader is setting a blazing pace. PBP in 2 days. 100+ mile lead over some strong riders. Be interesting to see how he holds up

I'm pretty sure that the difference in diet between him and me is nowhere near as important as our differences in age, training, effort, determination, and ... hmm, just about everything. Still, it's worth thinking about.

looks like the stragglers are mostly the guys , women, 1 active .. a few scratched DNF

I've been looking at the winner's speed vs time plot and he's been getting pretty decent rest (and sleep, one assumes), which makes his win all the more amazing.

that doesn't really surprise much. He didn't carry anything and is vegan. He said in an interview that his biggest problem was there were too many places in the U.S. to stop for food
