After riding it, got to say these things could really use alloy rims. Gotta check my stash for some polished 559mm rims. Its 590mm but slots make it look like it'd reach down 15mm. Long stopping distances not my thing, may add a caliper out back to the drum. Downhills are 'interesting,' feel like I may maim somebody with this tank. Yup that is about the only thing I want to do.

Yes me also. Interwebs suggests 1988 by the colors, and if so last year of production. Heavy and crude I guess one could say, but well suited to cruising around on the flat. As linked below, a few little changes and they aren't bad. I've had an earlier model for years, but this one is much cleaner.

Some of these bikes remind me of a tandem we rented from the local hardware store in the small town I grew up in. We were probably about 12 at the time, so it was about 1966. The bike was so flexible that I swore I'd never ride a tandem again. It literally felt like riding a wet noodle.....LOL. While I'm sure that some were built much better than others, there's certainly nothing wrong with taking a casual ride on the flats with one of these. I might even be tempted to pick one up if the right one ever came along.

Although not quite my style, I could see that being turned into a very fun bike. It does have a certain appeal to it.

My ugly one that handles well has an upgraded round tube mtb fork and modern alloy wheel. I think that is where the improvement is coming from. It steers so much better. Hate to get rid of the matching aqua fork though.

Maybe tooo heavy duty, maybe MA doesn't have hills?
