Mooch is not terrible for a normal XC race but an endurance distance can kick the crap out of you especially with yesterday's heat and humidity.
Where have you been riding to prep for the race and which bike did you take?

Lol, Lucky's no joke at 25. I had planned for the 50 but I broke my ribs and finger a few times in the spring and called it for the season.

Got the crap beat out of you, the ride was longer than you thought and you barely finished, your bike was under-gunned, and you crashed 6 times.....
The term for that is “epic ride”. I’m jealous.
You have tasted the soul of mountain biking.

I could not keep up with intermediate girl riders with my KHS Alite 500 so i gave it to my son in law and got a Scott Spark 940, which is a full suspension 29 inch wheel bike. Now I am faster than the gals, and some of the guys. The new bikes make a BIG difference. I am over 65 so do not attempt the technical stuff the kids do, but i do love the single track trails. Don't give up - Adapt!!!
