The local Pearl's art store had a huge One-Shot selection until they closed down. Not sure if Blick has it; will have to check the next time I'm there.

@TimmyT hooked me up with some of the earlier rings for this crank...and I couldn't resist mixing-and-matching with the black ring I found off of eBay.
I also tinkered with other ring combos for fun. Sadly, no black inner ring in sight. Thoughts?

Glad they arrived OK. You might try cleaning the 5 depressions ("flutes") in the arms and painting them with black Testor's. If the dustcaps are aluminum, then maybe paint into the Dura-Ace logo and wipe off the excess.

Fill in the spider, ride with silver rings and black bolts, until you find a small black ring. Then go with the black rings and back to chrome bolts...

You have given me the idea to paint the cutouts black on the silver ring though. Subtle, but it may look pretty spiffy.
The dustcaps are cheap plastic Shimano units, though I'm 99.9% certain these are not originals for this crank. Pretty sure the originals look like a Campagnolo copy with "SHIMANO JAPAN" on them. Even though they'd be an anomaly, I think the 7400-era Dura-Ace two-pin caps - or an unmarked equivalent - would look really nice on these cranks.
- but I do intend to get rid of the heart-shaped 7200-era rings. As I mentioned before, they are not for my tastes.-Kurt

I found this SR Apex crank on Ebay. Someone had painted the flutes brown, which went well with my gold '78 Super Course's saddle and tape color. There is a scuff on the drive side, probably from a toe strap rub, and I haven't gotten around to color matching and touching it up.

I did these arms yesterday. Not great, but... The spider was already done. Painted the derailleur, too. It had a lot of rash, so I thought, wtf...

Kurt, that crankset is 130 bcd right?
I have a dozen or more of 70s/80s vintage all-black Sugino Super Competition chainrings, still in the OEM package, tucked inside a box in my shop. I think they're all 144 bcd though. I always have the worst time remembering the bcd on misc cranksets.
