I remember reading about a National Team coach slowly getting them out of that habit since doing a single madison is very different from 6 day race. But man, 54.6 in a junior race (or any race) is amazing.

Some interesting observations from Professor Jim Martin on various topics, power, aero, crank length, etc. It’s a PCC video, well worth spending some time looking at it, you just need to ignore the ‘gunfight’ in the background!

Was this in Trexlertown? Is that a firing range I hear in the background?

EDIT:
The big takeaways:
1: Micro-rests.
2: Don't invite Povey to your presentation

BTW, for Robert Förstemann and Kristina Vogel to be more aerodynamic, not only would they need shorter cranks, they'll need to ride 650c wheels.

I thought we were done with lugged carbon back in the early 2000s.

I had a lugged carbon road bike once. Squeaked like all hell. I think the glue in one of the main joints broke free and allowed some wiggle or something.

They seem to be targeting the "Bling Bike" scene (a-la Rapha). For $6,500, I'll pass

There is still a fair bit of"lugged" carbon being done. Most of the time it's tube-to-tibe wrap, but that's essentially creating a lug. Parlee and Calfee use carbon lugs, as well as many other builders. Granted, the bikes aren't being built in the traditional lugged sense. Usually the lugs are a separate mold that fits over the tube. The inside of the mold is layed up before paying the lug over the tube and then the bike is cured. You can create a custom monocoque this way. It's much easier to make up molds for custom lugs than it is to tool up a mold for a whole frame.

Came here to post that. Not a huge surprise - aguas is the fastest track in the world (the previous record, 4.10, was set at sea level). I heard Lambie was going for the WR and I figured he'd at least come close.

Gavin Hoover held the american IP record there for about four minutes and change.

You see Hoover's time on the list and at first you don't realize what a great time it is.

Bobridge did have unusual (in a good way) conditions on another fast (albeit sea level) track. Still probably a good chunk of advantage at Aguas though.

Aguas has that reputation... although if we've learned anything from the last couple of hour record attempts, it's not a given you just show up and set a record.
*also, the new track in Bolivia may just usurp that fastest track in the world title.

Yeah, it's like they built a velodrome at the top of the Col du Galibier- a full 700m higher than Aguas. Interested to see what kinds of times are set when it hosts its next big event.

I would love to see another set of Sprint records set, like they used to attempt in the old days. An F200, an F500, and a SS Kilo. These would be the tracks to do it on.
