2005 Purple Schwinn Stingray

I have the same bike shown in the first post of this thread https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...-stingray.html

I purchased it around the same time. Anyone have an idea of the value of these re-issues in excellent condition?

They are definitely made in China, but are not the terrible Walmart krate replicas which came out later.

Bikes: No-name LH drive track. Also ride an Exxon Graftek, a Masi, a Trek R200 or a RR Boneshaker for fun!

Go to ebay, search "Sold" listings to see what they go for on that platform.
Expect less money but less hassle if you sell locally. Best of luck!

thanks, gave that a shot, not much came up. Mainly parts, some vintage, and some of the really bad Wally World stingrays.

This replica was only made in 2005 year and available only in purple.

THIS ONE was new old stock in the box and was listed for $475, but the seller accepted a lower offer.

hmm, thanks, that looks like one of the Wallmart krates. The seat is not quite right, the rear reflector is rectangular, the decals peeled off easily, the paint was not particularly good. They were less than a hundred bucks new.

I am looking for some sort of guestimate for the value of the purple stingray manufactured in 2005 as shown here - https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...-stingray.html I believe it retailed for around $250 at the time.

The seat is correct, as is the round rear reflector, the paint is the correct metalic flake, etc.

$200 OBO. Prepare to entertain offers. Sure, it's a cool purple Stingray, but a 12 year old replica is only going to go down in value as time marches forward.

Seems like you already have a thought on what you want for it. If not why argue with peoples thoughts?

I'm puzzled; the link I provided to the ebay auction had no photos of the bike. There were just two photos in the listing, both showing the shipping carton. The label on the carton does say Wal-Mart, so it probably is one ofthe wallyworld bikes.

Yeah, you can tell by the image on the box. I had one of those as well. Briefly, they were single speed krate models - very small front wheel with a conical spring type suspension for the front wheel. The back seat stays bolt directly to the rear axle, as opposed to using the large chrome P clamps shown in the linked thread on the purple schwinn. Also the image of the seat on the box is a giveaway. Instead of a ribbed sparkle upholstery, it is a solid seat with a double stripe and an S on it. If I recall correctly they came in blue, black, and green. When they first came out you could get them for between $80 to $90. I think some people purchased them thinking they would be worth lots more further down the road, given the prices for actual vintage stingrays.

The purple stingray is a different animal. Definitely made in China, but a more faithful replica. I haven't been able to find out too much about it or its value. They may have made some sort of anniversary ghost crate a year or two before that. But again, these replicas were considerably more expensive at retail bicycle shops. I think it was around $240.

Thanks, not desperate to sell, may give it to a friends child, was just curious if people had info about them.

Wow, not arguing, inquiring, and no, I don't have a thought on what I want for it. Interested if someone has any knowledge about it. But do feel free to snipe away. Gotta love this forum sometimes.
