Kickstand for a modern Trek?

Wife's friend has a Trek FX 7.4 from within the past 5 years (for me that's modern!), and she wants a kickstand. Apparently there are now several styles of stands on the market: a regular side stand bolted hear the BB, a side-stand bolted near the dropout, and several varieties of center stand. What would be most compatible with that bike? Anybody know if Trek has a recommended style?

Depends on your bike..

They make the compatible one by the back hub , which is sold at your Trek Dealer.

is there a mounting plate behind the BB ?

I cannot see your bike.. the bike shop can, and if you buy it there, they put it on, for you..

Everything Fietsbob said.

The bottom bracket one's don't need a plate, though it does help. If you go this route make sure you don't crush the frame when tightening it. Surly bikes does not recommend this style of kickstand for this very reason. I use the double one (Pletcher) because it is the most stable and it tucks in out of the way versus the one on the seat/chain stay.

Yeah, thanks, I'm tending toward the same answer, have the dealer handle it. I just need to get her to take her bike down there before they sell out.
